Experience a candlelit tribute to the music of Joe Hisaishi at Palikū Theatre in Honolulu, featuring a live performance by a string quartet from Range Ensemble. The program highlights themes from beloved films, including Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind with Kaze no Tani, Laputa: Castle in the Sky with Kimi wo Nosete, My Neighbour Totoro with Kaze no Toori Michi and the main theme, Kiki's Delivery Service with Umi no Mieru Machi and Tabidachi, the main theme from Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away with Inochi no Namae and Chihiro's Waltz, Ponyo with Gake no Ue no Ponyo, The Wind Rises with A Journey (A Dream of Flight), Kikujiro with Summer, The Tale of Princess Kaguya with When I Remember This Life, and Howl's Moving Castle with Merry Go Round of Life. The concert lasts 60 minutes. Doors open 30 minutes before the performance, and late entry is not permitted once the music begins. Guests must be at least 8 years old, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The venue is ADA compliant, and seating is assigned on a first come first served basis within each zone.

Expect a welcoming, inclusive setting with good music, plenty of room to move, and supportive guidance to help build confidence and refine technique. Admission is $5 for the practica on its own. It is included with a class for $15, and it is also included with a monthly membership. Drop in for focused practice, take a beginning or intermediate class and stay to practice at no extra cost, and spend extra time on the floor to get more repetitions.

A welcoming Argentine tango class designed for complete beginners. No prior dance experience or partner is needed. Instructors introduce the basics step by step to help build confidence, encourage connection, and make it easy to meet new people. The first visit is $5, with $15 drop-in after that. Student discounts and class cards are available. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and avoid long skirts. Shoes with smooth soles that stay securely on your feet are best, while heavy boots and loose sandals are not recommended. Parking is free for the first hour and $3 per hour after. Registration is handled by Ben at the pool table, the entry fee is $5, and the winner takes all. Those not playing pool can opt for Jenga, Connect Four, or cornhole. The beverage special includes an $8 charge at the door for the first cup of draft beer or a well drink, with refills priced at $3.50 for draft beer and $5 for well drinks. All proceeds collected at the door support The Aloha Bears’ charities. The 10% Bears members discount does not apply to the beer and liquor bust, but it can be used for other beer, drinks, and shots.

An island evening of exotica, bossa nova, jazz, and retro soul unfolds as artist and actress Christie Brooke takes the stage for Tropical Nights Waikiki. Fresh from her production Jazz in Waikiki and known for appearances in Midway and Hawaii Five-0, she leads a breezy set of tropical grooves, original songs, beloved jazz standards, and island classics, all with a splash of vintage pink flair. Expect smooth vocals, live entertainment, Tahitian and hula dancers, surprise local guest artists, and classic Waikiki ambiance. Presented at Blue Note Hawai'i. Brooke, a retro soul, bossa, big band, and jazz performer from Kaneohe, first gained national attention on ABC’s High School Musical: Get in the Picture hosted by Nick Lachey. Influenced by Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald, Les Baxter, and Amy Winehouse, she unveils a new homecoming showcase with Tropical Nights Waikiki. Tickets range from $25 to $35.
