Experience a candlelit tribute to the music of Joe Hisaishi at Palikū Theatre in Honolulu, featuring a live performance by a string quartet from Range Ensemble. The program highlights themes from beloved films, including Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind with Kaze no Tani, Laputa: Castle in the Sky with Kimi wo Nosete, My Neighbour Totoro with Kaze no Toori Michi and the main theme, Kiki's Delivery Service with Umi no Mieru Machi and Tabidachi, the main theme from Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away with Inochi no Namae and Chihiro's Waltz, Ponyo with Gake no Ue no Ponyo, The Wind Rises with A Journey (A Dream of Flight), Kikujiro with Summer, The Tale of Princess Kaguya with When I Remember This Life, and Howl's Moving Castle with Merry Go Round of Life. The concert lasts 60 minutes. Doors open 30 minutes before the performance, and late entry is not permitted once the music begins. Fresh from her production Jazz in Waikiki and known for appearances in Midway and Hawaii Five-0, she leads a breezy set of tropical grooves, original songs, beloved jazz standards, and island classics, all with a splash of vintage pink flair.
