Reading plays a vital role in a child’s brain development, and this community literacy gathering brings together free resources designed to help young learners thrive. Participants can take home complimentary books from local authors, connect with tutoring and other educational support, enjoy giveaways, and share in free food and hands-on activities for children of all ages. Stand Up for Peace, a community group that supports people affected by violence as well as those at risk, reaches people where they are to help them understand their options and choose peace. This is a collaborative effort with the Cedar Rapids Public Library, Sylvan Learning, the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center, and the Catherine McAuley Center.
