The class with the highest percentage of students in attendance will earn a free lunch delivered to the school. During the event, McDonald’s will donate 20 percent of dine-in sales to the PTA to fund programs and events for students. Participation is open to anyone, and only dine-in purchases apply.

The session introduces a brain-based understanding of OCD, explains how symptoms can show up in kids and teens, and shares practical strategies for home and school, including tips for communicating with teachers and schools. The program features a 25-minute screening of “Unstuck,” followed by a live Q&A with Andrea Brown and Tatum Vermeer, who will discuss their experiences with OCD in childhood and answer audience questions. Andrea Brown, a Des Moines author of “OCD Hiding in Plain Sight,” and Tatum Vermeer, a Des Moines therapist with River Roots and former Aspire Academy tutor, will also offer school-support ideas. Krave Gym Waukee hosts the 6th annual More Than Pink 5K and 1 mile walk or run to raise awareness and support for those affected by cancer and for cancer research. Fees are $25 to $30 for adults 18 and older, $15 to $20 for ages 6 to 17, with free entry for children 6 and under. Registration includes a More Than Pink T-shirt, music, food, drinks and more. T-shirt pickup and check-in will be available on site. The course follows the Heart of Warrior Trail, and experienced runners are encouraged to start near the front. Dogs are welcome.

The 9th Annual Fall Festival takes place at Valerius Elementary School in Urbandale, IA, offering a mix of shopping, activities, and food. Browse booths from 40 vendors and crafters. Attendees can buy raffle tickets for chances to win more than 70 raffle baskets or bid on items in the silent auction. The day begins with tech inspection and registration, followed by a novice course walk, then a mandatory drivers meeting before cars head out on course. SCCA Solo offers an approachable path into motorsports, providing a controlled environment to build driving skills and learn more about vehicle performance. Online registration is required, and participants must have a valid state-issued driver’s license. Drivers under 18 need a Minor Release and Waiver signed by both parents or guardians, and those who cannot have both present should coordinate the paperwork with the registrar at least seven days in advance. Competitors are responsible for classing their own car; review the 2026 rules on the SCCA website, contact the registrar with questions, or speak with Keegan Shepard, DMVR Solo Rules Director, at the event. Guests who are not participating are welcome and will be asked to sign a waiver upon entry.
