The Pocatello Fire Department brings Cool Rain to Raymond Park in Pocatello, setting up a fire engine and using its hoses to create a cooling spray so park-goers can enjoy a gentle, rainlike soak. Plans are weather dependent and may change if crews are needed for an emergency. These activities were planned earlier in the year, and the water situation will be monitored, so cancellation or modifications are possible. Bring only items you do not want to get wet.

Earlier installments have explored painting iguanas, metal embossing inspired by dogs, canaries rendered in oil pastel, aquarium-themed tissue paper fish, horses sketched with chalk, snakes formed from air-dry clay, cat-themed monoprints, and step-by-step guinea pig drawing.

Designed for ages 12 to 14, this weekly creative studio welcomes junior high artists who love to draw, paint, and experiment with new materials while using art history as a springboard for ideas. Guided projects are balanced with open studio time, creating a supportive place to build skills and connect with creative peers. Instruction is led by Madison Hoagland, an Idaho State University Honors Program student with experience teaching in the summer program at Grace Lutheran School. Flexible enrollment is available through punch cards, with a four-class option priced at $60 for members or $80 for non-members, and a two-class option at $30 for members or $50 for non-members. A youth membership costs $15 per year, and families receive a 10 percent sibling discount.

Enjoy free live music every Wednesday all summer at Lookout Point in Historic Downtown Pocatello. The concerts run from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and feature a family-friendly atmosphere with food, cold beverages, ice cream, the Wednesday Farmers Market, and more. Admission and parking are free.

Bats take center stage during an after-dark program that pairs science, family activities, and a nighttime zoo tour. Experts from BYU-Idaho and Idaho National Laboratory introduce the bats of Idaho, explain their importance, and share how the zoo supports habitat protection and local research. Doors open 15 minutes before the program begins. The evening starts in the William J. Maeck Education Center with hands-on stations and a short presentation, then continues after sunset with a tour through the zoo to observe nocturnal animals and the wild bats that frequent the grounds to feed. Interactive displays and activities are planned for all ages. Advance registration is required, and admission will not be sold at the venue. The cost is $6.00 per person for ages three and up, and children two and under are free.
