This new tale, inspired by Shakespeare's Macbeth, follows a girl who survives a war and slips into a dark forest. Told entirely without spoken words, the production weaves shadow puppetry, silhouetted performers, and live music to carry the story. It opens the night before Macbeth's forces descend on a small town. After the invasion leaves her orphaned and cast out, a witch rescues her and trains her as an apprentice. As her powers grow, her grief and anger lead her on a path of vengeance against Macbeth for the death of her parents. An inversion of the classic tragedy, the piece reflects on grief, war, generational conflict, and the recurring cycle of violence by focusing on those left in the wake of battle. Ballet West performs The Nutcracker at the Browning Center at WSU, continuing a holiday tradition treasured across Utah. This festive staging celebrates the season and invites audiences to share in a time-honored experience.

The Ogden Santa Run opens the three-race Santa series and covers the longest distance in the lineup. The course begins near the Ogden LDS Temple, winds through downtown for one and a half laps, and finishes in front of the Municipal Building. Registration includes a Santa suit, so participants run in festive red from start to finish while Christmas music plays along the route. The finish area sits beside Ogden Christmas Village, known for a full block of cottage-style houses filled with detailed holiday displays. After the run, the city presents the Ogden Holiday Light Parade, where the real Santa arrives, steps into the village, and lights it with fireworks and festivities. For more than six decades, The Swingles have expanded the possibilities of vocal music, collecting five Grammy Awards and worldwide admiration along the way. Across changing lineups, their instantly recognizable sound and meticulous arrangements have remained a constant, while the group continues to reimagine jazz, folk, pop and classical works and to introduce original material. Using close mic amplification and the remarkable range and agility of seven voices, they craft a seamless, blended sound that highlights the ensemble’s versatility and has drawn the interest of composers and collaborators. The current singers are Mallika Bhagwat, Sarah Alison, Laura Moisey-Gray, James Botcher, Owen Butcher, Jamie Wright and Tom Hartley.

The Symphonic Band presents Songs of the Season, a holiday concert featuring classic favorites that celebrate the spirit of the holidays. The performance takes place at the Val A. Browning Center, Austad Auditorium, and tickets are required.

A Christmas event featuring BYU Vocal Point and Noteworthy takes place at the Browning Center at WSU. The seasonal program spotlights both groups.

Bengt Washburn brings a night of stand-up built on sharp observations and an easygoing, offbeat charm. A past winner of the San Francisco International Comedy Competition, he has appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Comedy Central, Live at Gotham, and Conan on TBS. His festival credits include the Vancouver International Comedy Festival, the Boston Comedy Festival, the Aspen Laff Festival, and Gilda’s Laugh Fest in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His comedy is heard weekly on XM Sirius radio, and he has also been featured on NPR, PRI, and Bob and Tom. He recently recorded a second special for Dry Bar Comedy that will be included in its fourth season, following his first Dry Bar release, “Poking the Grizzly,” from the inaugural season. Known for intelligent material that connects with a wide range of audiences, he continues to earn praise from outlets such as Monterey County Weekly.
