iMassage LoganOuter Space and Galaxy Summer Art Camp!
Children ages 5 and up can take a creative trip to the stars at a summer art camp focused on outer space. Artists will complete two projects, a galaxy-themed painting and a clay spaceship, with all materials included. The fee is $29. The session is held at The Local Artisan Collective and is taught by Stephanie Howerton of Our Children’s Earth, an artist who enjoys marbling, hand dyeing, and designing clothing, jewelry, and items for the home. August Art Stroll at The Local Artisan Collective features cool art, live demonstrations, and interactive projects. Two featured artists are highlighted this month. Fiona Hurst began working with glass while creating worry stones and now also makes heart pendants. Gaye Leatherow Hurst is a lifelong creator who currently focuses on detailed seed bead work after exploring lampwork beads, glass fusing, mosaics, ceramics, tole painting, counted cross-stitch, and polymer clay. Attendees can meet Fiona and enter a giveaway for a glass worry stone, view new beadwork by Gaye, and watch Mike from Hurst's Handblown Glass shape pieces in the studio. A drop in ring bar offers custom jewelry by selecting a stone, bezel, and band, or choosing a vintage sterling silver spoon handle, with rings crafted on the spot by Rene, a 16th generation silversmith, typically ready in under half an hour. The Community Tiny Art Show returns with a collage and mixed media theme, with miniature works displayed on shelves in the classroom. The Little Art Market spotlights artists from the YMCA who have been learning felting, jewelry-making, painting, and more. Attendees can also make a calming bottle with Monica from Wally's Wax Co., with all supplies provided and pricing from $8 to $20 to support mindfulness, quiet reading corners, homework breaks, and a bit of calm. Participants can choose from a 10 miler, 10K, or 5K, with the start and finish located at First Dam in Canyon Entrance Park. The event is part of the unofficial training series for the Top of Utah Marathon, also known as the Logan Marathon. Registration includes race entry, a unisex T‑shirt, a finisher medal, a swag bag, an official race bib, a raffle entry, and official timing. Shirt sizes are guaranteed for early registrants, with later entries receiving sizes as available. Packet pickup is available ahead of race day at Sol Speak Yoga and on race morning at the start area. Parking at First Dam is limited and permitted only in designated spots to avoid tickets or towing, so consider arriving early, carpooling, or arranging a drop‑off. Additional limited parking is available at Ray Hugie Hydro Park and in a few nearby areas along Highway 89 and Canyon Road. The race will proceed in any weather, and registrations are nonrefundable.

Getting there is simple with free rides on Ogden Express OGX Route 603x and the Ogden Trolley Route 601. Parking is available at The Junction garages, Union Station, the UTA Frontrunner Station, and the WonderBlock garage on Grant Ave. Cyclists can use a complimentary bike valet service near the Information Booth. The market supports food access programs as an authorized SNAP/EBT, Double Up Food Bucks, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and ProduceRX retailer. The 9th annual Spin, Dye, & Goats Workshop offers a hands-on weekend with Angora goats and fiber arts hosted by Cody Roche of Mountain View Angora Goats and Laura Spinner of the Rainbow Twist Shop. The weekend begins with a relaxed meet and greet that includes time with the goats and a home-cooked dinner. Saturday focuses on coloring fiber using microwave and pan dyeing, along with creative color techniques to make each piece unique. On Sunday, participants spin their dyed fiber and explore methods such as Magic Thumb lock spinning, tailspinning, coil spinning, art yarn spinning, beehives, and corespinning. Cody also shares #codystyle Angora goat care with a shearing demonstration and guidance on washing mohair. Enrollment is limited. The fee is $400 per person and includes Friday dinner plus morning coffee, lunch, snacks, and beverages throughout both workshop days, one pound of washed mohair from Cody’s goats, and a bag of extras. Payment in full reserves a spot. Payments are nonrefundable unless the workshop is canceled, and those unable to attend are responsible for finding a replacement. Participants should bring a working spinning wheel that can handle bulky yarns, along with any batts, fleece, or plied yarn they wish to use. Bringing a drum carder is helpful if available. Beginners are welcome as long as they bring a functioning wheel. Additional fiber will be available for purchase, including mohair from Cody’s herd and Teeswater and Icelandic wool from Laura’s collection. Travel notes indicate that Salt Lake City Airport is about 70 miles south of the workshop. Western Inn and Hampton Inn are located roughly 5 miles from the farm, and limited camping space on Cody’s land may be arranged directly with him.
