    2-Day Wrestling Performance Camp

Wheeling University, 417 N Wheeling Ave, Muncie · verified Jul 31
    See details

Be Rare Wrestling teams up with Dustin Myers of Old School Gym for a two-day wrestling performance camp at Wheeling University that focuses on building strength, speed, explosiveness, and conditioning for the season ahead. Every session is tailored to wrestlers, emphasizing movement patterns, strength qualities, and energy systems that translate directly to success on the mat. Foundational work covers deadlift and squat variations along with pressing, pulling, and rowing, with careful attention to proper technique and training principles. Unconventional wrestling strength methods developed through years of coaching are introduced, including Iranian rows, advanced core training, grip challenges, and other wrestling-specific movements, along with innovative approaches used by high-level competitors. Speed and power development features leg-drive centered plyometrics, drills that build horizontal force, chain-resisted sprint work, medicine ball throws, and targeted speed development. GutCheck conditioning builds physical and mental toughness through functional movements, strongman-inspired exercises, weighted carries, battle ropes, and truck or car pulls for older athletes only. Coaches have a dedicated session with Dustin Myers covering preseason preparation, in-season conditioning, peaking for competition, and strength program design, followed by an open Q&A. The camp welcomes youth, junior high, and high school wrestlers, as well as coaches seeking to improve their training systems, and provides practical tools that can be applied immediately.
