Across seven weeks, participants meet once per week for a four hour session divided between classroom learning and pool practice. Classroom topics include safe diving habits, how to plan dives, the basics of human physiology that affect diving, and an introduction to marine life. In the pool, skills are introduced step by step to build comfort and confidence. Students assemble scuba gear both out of the water and in it, refine buoyancy control, and practice key safety and rescue techniques, adding new abilities each week.
