This weekend in Berea, KY

Tracks for Packs 5K Run/Walk at Richmond Centre raises funds for the Backpack Program of God's Outreach Food Pantry. The event offers a 5K course for both runners and walkers. Registration takes place before the event, and the race begins promptly.

Set out on a relaxed kayak float suitable for all experience levels at the kayak launch in Lake Reba Park. Someone will be on site to share tips if you want a little guidance. Kayak rentals are free and available on a first come, first served basis.

Auditions are open for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever under the Spotlight on Faith program, directed by Jazzlyn Threlkeld, and hosted at The Spotlight Playhouse in Berea, Kentucky. Participation through Spotlight on Faith is free. Audition materials will include cold readings provided on site, and prepared monologues are welcome but not required. Written by Barbara Robinson, this beloved holiday comedy follows a church pageant thrown into chaos when the notorious Herdman siblings decide to claim the leading roles. What begins as disorder grows into a heartfelt, funny story that brings the community together. The production features roles for adults and children, including the Bradley family, church members, the six Herdman kids, and characters from the Nativity such as Mary, Joseph, the Angel of the Lord, the wise men, shepherds, and an innkeeper. The casting approach is ensemble friendly with room to include additional young performers. Multiple performances are planned, with a break built in so Spotlight on Faith participants can take part in the Berea Christmas Parade. This production is presented in cooperation with Concord Theatricals of New York, NY.

This annual gala features an upscale dinner, craft cocktails, and an Americana performance from Tennessee’s Gold Pine. Country music artist and Kentucky native Mary Kutter appears as the featured guest, blending song and storytelling to share reflections on the strength, resilience, and spirit of Appalachia. Set beneath the mountain moonlight, the evening highlights uplifting stories, meaningful connections, and a collective commitment to positive change, with a focus on creating a brighter future for survivors.

EKU faces Dayton at Roy Kidd Stadium with a Kids at The Kidd theme that adds family friendly fun. Children 12 and under can receive one complimentary ticket. At halftime, kids 12 and under can run across CG Bank Field with the Colonel. The Kids at The Kidd T-shirt Design Contest rewards the winner with shirts featuring the winning design for themselves and their family, free family tickets to the game against Dayton, and seats in the Coke Thirst Zone.

Westley Metcalfe performs live at Chenault Vineyards. Admission is free, and the event takes place in the Welcome Center.
