    Summer Fun Train Rides

    Take a narrated rail excursion through Kentucky horse country and hear stories about the landscape, local lore, and railroading history. Two rides are offered each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with boarding beginning before departure. Choose your seat in a covered open-air car right behind the locomotive or relax in First Class with air conditioning and padded seats. The trip lasts about 90 minutes and includes a stop at Young’s High Bridge for sweeping views of the Kentucky River Palisades and time for photos. Restrooms are located at the museum station, and there are none on the train or at the mid-ride stop. Due to the historic railcars, wheelchairs cannot be accommodated, though passengers using walkers or canes should be able to board and exit. For parking, turn off State Road 62 onto Beasley Road, cross the tracks, then turn left into a large lot with ample space. Ticket prices: First Class adults $20, children ages 2 to 12 $18. Open Air Car adults $20, children ages 2 to 12 $18. Cab rides are $75 for up to two riders, and cab riders must be able to board the locomotive without assistance. Tickets are recommended to be purchased in advance and are picked up at the ticket counter before boarding.
