Owensboro Health Healthpark, 1006 Ford Ave, Owensboro · verified Aug 30
    See details

B.A.S.E. (Balance Awareness Stability Everywhere) is a 12-week small group supervised exercise class from the Healthpark that focuses on improving gait, balance, stability, and muscle strength to help reduce the likelihood of a fall. Participants attend two one-hour classes each week and take part in six educational sessions and shared medical visits during the program. Enrollment is intended for individuals who are ambulatory without relying heavily on walkers or other mobility devices, can consistently attend throughout the 12 weeks, have medical clearance from a physician, and consent to pre-testing to determine candidacy and post-testing to measure improvement. In a piloted test group, those who completed the class reported fewer falls, greater confidence with less fear of falling, and gains in strength, stamina, and endurance. Program cost is based on the insurance cost for six co-pays to see a regular family medical provider, which cover the six individual education sessions and shared medical appointments with a Lifestyle Medicine Physician.
