The Longfellow Summer Arts Festival hosts a free concert on the front lawn of the Longfellow House in partnership with the Berklee Summer in the City concert series, featuring South Korea-born jazz pianist, composer, and arranger Yujin Han. Han studied at Dongduk Women’s University, then continued her education at Berklee College of Music with a Presidential Scholarship. She launched her career in 2020 as leader of the alternative R&B band the Blowers and, with support from the CJ Cultural Foundation, brought her original work to public audiences. Through the Berklee Global Jazz Institute and the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice, she expanded her approach to harmony and rhythm, drawing on a wide range of global influences. Her performance credits include the Panama Jazz Festival, Medford Jazz Festival, and Boston Progressive Jazz Festival, along with appearances at various venues in Korea and Boston, and she was highlighted as an emerging artist at the 2024 Vermont Solo Jazz Piano Festival. All events in the festival are free and open to the public, bringing music, poetry, and community together on the lawn.

West Coast swing brings dancers to the docks behind the Hatch Shell for an outdoor social in a scenic spot by the water. Speakers provide the music and a rotating team of DJs and instructors guides the experience from week to week. A beginner friendly West Coast Swing lesson runs for about 30 to 45 minutes, with the dock split so newcomers can learn while social dancing continues. Bring friends and food, relax by the water, and enjoy dancing on the docks.

At The Burren, four acts share the stage for a showcase of local rock and alternative sounds. The Allston Rat Problem channels basement-born grit into a set of familiar alternative favorites with a flannel-era vibe, a clear nod to listeners raised on 92.9 FM. Pyramid Scheme offers Boston-rooted alternative and indie rock that blends driving modern riffs with laid back R&B grooves and jazzy harmonies for a soulful, eclectic mix. The Cherry Fog delivers a retro-leaning hard rock trio punch with roaring amps, classic drum tones, and thick bass lines, drawing on influences like Nirvana, Cream, and The Byrds alongside garage energy. Rounding out the bill, The Koiis are a Somerville five-piece steeped in swamp rock, mixing eras to get people on their feet on either side of the river.

Yard Act performs at The Sinclair for an all-ages crowd. For every ticket purchased, twenty-five cents will be donated to The Shout Syndicate, a Boston-based, volunteer-run fundraising initiative housed at The Boston Foundation that helps fund youth-led arts programs at established nonprofit creative youth development organizations across Greater Boston, working in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture through the Boston Creates plan.

At the Neal Rantoul Vault Theatre, this open mic offers a safe, welcoming space for poetic souls and bold voices. Rappers, singers, poets, musicians, comedians, and storytellers take the stage to share original work with an encouraging audience. First-time performers and those trying out fresh material are equally supported. Hosted by Michelle La Poetica with support from the Lynn Music Foundation, the gathering brings together up-and-coming and seasoned creatives from Lynn and the North Shore, fostering a community centered on authenticity and growth. The evening features the Soul Writers creative writing workshop, a Light House Stories guest interview, and an international open mic.

At Club Passim in Boston, MA, German-based guitarist, composer, arranger, and teacher Alexandr Misko appears with special guest Forest Bailey. A standout voice in modern fingerstyle guitar, Misko blends tradition with innovation, moving from viral online breakthroughs to renowned stages. He began on classical guitar at 12, then taught himself the contemporary fingerstyle approach, crafting originals and inventive covers that have captivated a global audience. Early videos such as his "Guitar + Pen Tapping Song" and reimaginings of "Billie Jean" and "Careless Whisper" drew tens of millions of views, helping grow a YouTube following that now exceeds one million subscribers. Recognitions include MusicRadar’s Guitarist of the Year in 2018, the release of his third solo album Roundtrip in 2019, and a Carnegie Hall performance in 2020 with harpist Alexander Boldachev that developed into a long-term duo where guitar and harp merge into a single musical voice. With seven albums, worldwide touring, and a distinctive self-invented instrument, he brings a multigenre perspective to the stage.

Swervedriver brings a live performance to The Sinclair, presented by BrooklynVegan. This show is open to attendees of all ages. With every ticket sold, twenty five cents supports The Shout Syndicate, a volunteer driven Boston initiative that funds youth led arts programs at established creative youth development nonprofits across Greater Boston. The Shout Syndicate is housed at The Boston Foundation and collaborates with the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture through the Boston Creates plan.

DJ Bingo offers a lively twist on the classic game by swapping numbers for songs. Mark off tracks on a traditional paper card or play right from your phone as the music plays. The rhythm keeps things moving with toe-tapping beats, sing-along moments, and the kind of energy that might have you dancing out of your seat. It turns a familiar favorite into a music-filled game where every tune brings you closer to a winning line.

Line Dancing Queens lead an upbeat evening of country line dancing at WBUR CitySpace. The event begins with a welcoming lesson for beginners, then transitions into open dancing featuring a variety of well known line dances. No prior experience is needed. Instructors will guide participants so everyone can follow along after the lesson. General admission is $15. WBUR’s Legacy Circle, Murrow Society, Sustainers and Members save $5 on in person tickets with a promo code, which can be requested by emailing membership@wbur.org.

Rain or shine, the show will go on, with doors opening before the performance. Supporting acts may change without prior notice. Tickets roll out in stages, starting with Artist, Ticketmaster, Venue, Leader Bank, Live Nation, and HOB Foundation Room Member presales, plus a Citi cardmember presale, followed by a public onsale. At Goldfish Pond, families can craft paper lanterns and release them onto the water at sundown. The afternoon and evening feature activities for children such as remote control boat races and a sidewalk art contest, along with provided materials and guidance for making floating lanterns. Live music by Malibu Sands Beach Club will be part of the festivities, and the event is presented in collaboration with Kakrona, Lynn’s Khmer community.
