The return stirs up old wounds and simmering resentments. Tyler reconnects with Curt, once his closest friend and now the police chief, and Deb, a new officer who may be in over her head, while Freddi, Curt’s wife and Tyler’s former partner, sets in motion events that lead to tragedy. The novel probes friendship, betrayal, and the thin line between good and bad in a community grappling with its past.

She now leads The Cartographers alongside guitarist Ian Stephenson, known for Kan and Baltic Crossing, and melodeon player Julian Sutton, associated with Kathryn Tickell and Sting. Together they weave traditional folk roots with contemporary flourishes, uniting expressive vocals, deft instrumental interplay, and inventive arrangements. Their live shows brim with energy and their albums have earned critical praise, with BBC Music and Songlines highlighting the exceptional voice on offer and the spirited, life‑affirming feel of the music. The performance runs for about 90 minutes with an interval and forms part of a Dorset tour with Artsreach, the county’s rural arts charity.

Now in its sixth year, the Indigenous Peoples Day Newton ceremonial celebration is presented as the state’s largest Indigenous-led ceremonial gathering, honoring the cultures, histories, resilience, and living traditions of Indigenous Peoples while strengthening relationships through education, community, and respect. This edition centers on ancestral plant medicines and healing relationships with the land, reflecting the enduring connection Indigenous communities maintain with the natural world and the teachings of observation, reciprocity, and responsibility that continue to sustain life. Throughout the day, attendees can experience an opening Indigenous ceremony and a sacred fire, traditional drum groups alongside music and dance, visits with tribal representatives and cultural educators, teachings about Indigenous plant medicines and traditional ecological knowledge, artist demonstrations and an Indigenous artisan marketplace, Indigenous food offerings, educational exhibits, children’s activities, a sensory-friendly space, an accessible setting, and opportunities to connect with community organizations while learning about the protection of lands and waters. People who are Indigenous and allies are welcome, and there is no charge to attend. The celebration affirms that the knowledge shared is living cultural tradition offered for education and cultural understanding, not for appropriation, commercialization, misrepresentation, or removal from its context. Event values emphasize honoring ceremonial protocols, asking permission before photographing people, sacred spaces, or ceremonies, recognizing that some songs, stories, medicines, and ceremonies are not meant to be practiced or taught outside their original communities, supporting Indigenous creators directly, caring for the land by leaving no trace, and listening with humility. Hosted by H.U.A.H. (Mothers Path to Ancestors, Inc.), organizer of Indigenous Peoples Day Newton, whose mission is to educate, uplift, and celebrate Indigenous cultures while creating opportunities for Indigenous communities to share their voices, traditions, and living histories with the broader public. The celebration honors the First Peoples of these lands and looks toward a future grounded in respect, truth, relationship, and healing.

The Sinclair hosts a performance by Tricky, the influential Bristol artist also known as Adrian Thaws. All ages are welcome. In recent years he has remained prolific with the Lonely Guest project that brought together collaborators like Oh Land, Marta Złakowska, Idles’ Joe Talbot, Murkage Dave, Maxïmo Park’s Paul Smith and the late Lee “Scratch” Perry, followed by Fifteen Days with producer Mike Theis under the name Theis Thaws, and a joint release with Marta titled Out The Way. Each of these records arrived on False Idols, the label he founded in 2013. His latest chapter centers on Different When It’s Silent, a return to releasing under his own name that follows profound personal loss and channels themes of grief, resilience and forward motion. The album shifts the spotlight to predominantly male vocals, with young Bristol singer Mitch Sanders featured throughout alongside Tricky’s shadowed harmonies. Guests include Red Run Rambo and Marta Złakowska. The music ranges from a reimagined take on Dope Lemon’s Marinade to tracks colored by strings, an operatic voice, drum and bass textures and contributions from Christian Pattemore. For this event, a portion of each ticket supports The Shout Syndicate, a volunteer-run effort housed at The Boston Foundation that helps fund youth-led arts programs in Greater Boston in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture’s Boston Creates.

Monster Groove teams up with the Killer Horns for a night of soul, rhythm, and blues at Baramor. For anyone who cannot attend in person, a live Facebook stream will be available.

Dispose of documents at a City of Lynn paper-only shredding day with a mobile truck shredding on site. The service is free. Only paper will be accepted, so cardboard, plastic, and metal will not be taken. Participation is limited to Lynn residents. The location is the Department of Public Works.

Historic New England hosts a walk through the Lyman Estate's meandering woodland paths and garden walkways. Along the way, learn how the grounds once encompassed pleasure grounds, formal gardens, a system of ponds, woodlands, and a working farm stewarded by the Lyman family for more than four generations. Hear stories about the land's plants, wildlife, and the people who cared for them. The group meets at the mansion's front entrance and the tour takes place rain or shine. The historic greenhouse complex, among the oldest surviving in the country, will be open for visits before or after the tour. This outdoor experience includes uneven terrain and inclines, and there is no seating. Tickets are $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers.

Vibha Boston 2026 sets the scene for a high-energy Garba experience, powered by continuous beats and a welcoming vibe. Expect a lively dance floor, uplifting music from start to finish, and an evening focused on movement, rhythm, and joy.

Hank Azaria & The EZ Street Band bring a live performance to The Sinclair. This all-ages show welcomes music fans of every generation. In addition, 25 cents from each ticket benefits The Shout Syndicate, a volunteer-led Boston initiative that raises funds for youth-led arts programs at established nonprofit creative youth development organizations across Greater Boston. The effort is housed at The Boston Foundation and works in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture through the Boston Creates cultural plan.

Entertainment’s Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry, brings his national live show An Evening of Hope and Healing to the stage. He shares how he connects with the other side and offers live audience readings, often delivering precise details that can be deeply moving and reassuring. With an evidence-based approach, he focuses on comfort, closure, and the enduring connection people feel with loved ones who have passed. Henry is a highly sought-after medium whose work includes readings for both public figures and everyday people. He is also a best-selling author, with Between Two Worlds: Lessons From The Other Side and a second book, Here and Hereafter, released in March 2022.

The Boston H.O.G. chapter holds a recurring business meeting at Boston Harley-Davidson, where riders connect, review plans for upcoming rides and events, hear chapter updates, and learn about ways to get involved. ADULT. and A Place To Bury Strangers take the stage at The Sinclair for a co-billed show that is open to all ages. Detroit duo ADULT., Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller, brings a sound that fuses avant-garde ideas with electronics and punk. Their work spans releases on DAIS, Mute, Ghostly International, Thrill Jockey, Third Man, Clone, and their own Ersatz Audio, along with remixes for Liars, John Foxx, and Barry Adamson. They have appeared alongside Nitzer Ebb, L7, Severed Heads, and Gary Numan, and contributed to Mute’s STUMM433 tribute to John Cage’s 4'33" with peers including Depeche Mode, New Order, and Cabaret Voltaire. Their album Perception Is/As/Of Deception features nine tracks centered on how we see and process the world, drawing on ideas from Merleau-Ponty, Goethe, Aldous Huxley, and Jean Cocteau. It was created in a stark, black-painted, windowless basement with only minimal light, incorporating metal pipes affixed to a trash can and no phones or outside contact, all to probe the boundaries of perception.
