Commonwealth Shakespeare Company marks its 30th anniversary with A Midsummer Night’s Dream on the Boston Common, reimagining the comedy as a glowing festival world where rules loosen and self-expression flourishes. Young lovers step into a realm of freedom and longing, drawn together and pulled apart by forces just out of reach. The atmosphere thrums with music, intrigue, and playful chaos as Puck, portrayed by The Skivvies’ Nick Cearley, and a band of fairies move like DJs of destiny, stirring hearts with a touch of enchantment. Directed by CSC Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler, this Free Shakespeare on the Common production takes place at the Parkman Bandstand. It is presented in partnership with the City of Boston, Mayor Michelle Wu, Boston Parks and Recreation, and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture. Admission is free. All performances include open captions, and select shows offer ASL interpretation along with audio description and a tactile tour. Guests may bring modest food items and are asked to avoid umbrellas, tents, and canopies. Personal blankets or chairs are welcome, and chairs can be rented online in advance or on site for 10 dollars. Reserved premium seating in the Friends Section is available with a donation of 100 dollars or more.

This outdoor Rueda de Casino gathering at Jill Brown Rhone Park centers on community, laughter, and nonstop dancing. It begins with a free lesson for all levels, then continues with social dancing. No partner or prior experience is required. Attendees can expect lively music, ruedas of all sizes, familiar faces, new friends, and an upbeat summer energy. Updates about any time changes or weather-related cancellations are posted on Facebook and Instagram.

Salsa and bachata take center stage at The Anchor Boston with Saborcito, a free dance class and party presented by The Anchor Boston, Sabor Latino, Salsa y Control, and DJ Hernan. The event includes a salsa lesson to get everyone moving, followed by social dancing on an open-air courtyard patio with comfortable lounge seating, freestanding tables, and a bar. The 15th Annual Back-to-School Celebration at TD Garden focuses on helping students return to class prepared. All spots have been filled. The event provides families with essential resources including backpacks, school supplies, winter coats, and more ahead of the new school year. Last year, support from TD Garden, The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division, and the City of Boston helped 3,500 Boston-area families equip their students, and the tradition continues. Over the past decade, TD Garden in the Community has provided more than 56,000 backpacks to the Greater Boston community. Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available.

Unwind at Rose Art Museum with a yoga session set around Chris Burden’s permanent installation, "Light of Reason" (2014), just outside the museum entrance. Brandeis Fitness Coordinator Kat Page will guide a workshop that welcomes every fitness level and is free to attend. Bring a water bottle, a yoga mat, and workout clothes; a mat can be arranged with advance notice. Registration is limited to 40 participants. This program is weather dependent and will be canceled in case of inclement weather.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Craft Food Halls. Attendees are expected to follow onsite rules, including no burnouts, no two-stepping, a 10 mph speed limit in the lot, and no reckless driving.
