    Heather Maloney

Northampton · The Iron Horse, 18 Center St

Heather Maloney brings a two-night run to The Iron Horse, sharing songs shaped by three contemplative years at a meditation center and a lifelong devotion to storytelling inspired by Joni, Rilke, Ken Burns, and Zen parables. After more than a thousand performances and eight studio releases, she is unveiling her ninth and most personal album, Exploding Star, written after the loss of her father. Portions were captured over two days in her long-abandoned childhood home, often on his guitar, with production by Don Mitchell of Darlingside and arrangements by Isabella DeHerdt and Isaac Eliot of High Tea. The music moves between driving, cathartic energy and hushed reflection, anchored by lyrics that face grief’s shadows and surprising brightness with honesty. Her album Soil In The Sky features collaborations with Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, Rachael Price, and Jay Ungar, alongside drummer Griffin Goldsmith and members of the Amos Lee band. Earlier highlights include Making Me Break, produced by Bill Reynolds of Band of Horses, and a collaboration with Darlingside titled Woodstock, both praised by notable voices. Her work has been heard on NPR affiliates and programs like eTown and AudioTree, featured in the CBS series Elementary, and widely streamed on editorial playlists. Tickets start at $42, with all fees included.

    Heather Maloney

Northampton · The Iron Horse, 18 Center St

Heather Maloney brings a two-night run to The Iron Horse, sharing an intimate concert shaped by her meditative songwriting roots. The Massachusetts-based, self-described “writer song-singer” draws on years of quiet practice and on storytellers like Joni Mitchell, Rainer Maria Rilke, Ken Burns, and the anonymous voices behind Zen parables. A pre-show bar and event queue are planned, with doors opening before the performance. Her catalog spans eight studio albums and more than a thousand shows, culminating in her most personal record, Exploding Star, written after her father’s passing and marked by sessions in her empty childhood home, performances on his guitar, production from Don Mitchell of Darlingside, and arrangements by Isabella DeHerdt and Isaac Eliot of High Tea. Previous highlights include Soil In The Sky with appearances by Taylor Goldsmith, Rachael Price, and Jay Ungar, the Bill Reynolds–produced Making Me Break, and a collaborative release with Darlingside. Her songs have aired on NPR stations and on programs like eTown and AudioTree, featured in the CBS series Elementary, and reached wide audiences through editorial streaming playlists and Starbucks’ in-store rotations. She is also an illustrator and linocut artist, creating visual works that reflect her songs. Tickets start at $42 and include all fees.

    Rodrigo y Gabriela

Northampton · Academy of Music Theatre, 274 Main St

Presented by DSP Shows, GRAMMY-winning Mexican guitarists Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero bring their new OurHome project to Academy of Music Theatre in Northampton. Self-produced in Tokyo, the album serves both as a salute to Japan and an exploration of finding home within, unfolding like a dream world of unruly beasts, sky-borne birds, cosmic dust, untamed landscapes, and a search for inner calm. Their hallmark is vivid, wordless storytelling through wildly expressive acoustic guitar. For more than two decades, the duo has pushed the possibilities of acoustic guitar, blending classical, rock, metal, cinematic textures, and spiritual themes into a distinctive voice. Their journey spans from busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street to a GRAMMY win for Mettavolution, a Glastonbury headline slot, and sold-out appearances at the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Royal Albert Hall, Radio City Music Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. The OurHome recordings highlight the tactile beauty of acoustic instruments and include collaborations with Marty Friedman and Hiromi. On stage, Rodrigo’s quicksilver leads and Gabriela’s powerful, rhythmic attack shape a performance that moves between quiet focus, surging intensity, and irresistible momentum, offering both longtime fans and newcomers a close-up view of two master musicians in full flight.
