Peter Mulvey and Jenna Nicholls bring their collaborative project Floyd Mercantile to the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation as part of the 2nd SHIFT Music Series. Conceived during five days of recording in an old general store in rural Floyd, Virginia, the program interlaces the duo’s original songs with classics from the Great American Songbook, including “Skylark” and “I’ll Be Seeing You.” Mulvey’s smoky vocals and Nicholls’ bright, melodic singing create an intimate sound that bridges eras and genres. This appearance is one of only a few live dates supporting the project. Tickets are $25.

The married duo blends close harmonies on seasonal favorites such as Silent Night and I’ll Be Home for Christmas with original songs that capture the tender, bittersweet mood of the season, drawing from their 2023 release You and Me On Christmas Eve. The program leans toward reflective folk rather than novelty tunes, highlighting storytelling, warmth, and musical interplay. Robbins, a rising voice on the contemporary folk scene, and Neal share a collaborative set that puts connection and songcraft at the center.
