Now in its fifteenth year, this back to school celebration at TD Garden welcomes Boston area families to pick up essentials before the new academic season, including backpacks, school supplies, winter coats, and more. Last year, 3,500 families received support thanks to TD Garden, The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division, and The City of Boston. The event aims to do the same this year. Over the past decade, TD Garden in the Community has provided more than 56,000 backpacks to the Greater Boston community. Registration is required, and space can fill quickly. The NESFA Clubhouse hosts open library hours followed by a relaxed social evening. The library welcomes everyone to explore a collection of more than 20,000 items, including books, magazines, audiobooks, and DVDs. Members can borrow or return materials, and cataloging work typically happens during this time. As the day goes on, more members gather to chat, take care of NESFA business, or start a pickup board game. Membership is $24 per year and open to all. A weekly farmers market at Central Square Park brings fresh, locally sourced foods and community programs to East Boston. Run by NeighborHealth, it focuses on improving community health and strengthening the local food system. Visitors can browse produce from area farms, raw local honey, fresh bread, coffee, tea, and ready-to-eat options such as Mexican elotes. The market also features local handcraft vendors each week and community organizations offering free resources. Families will find kid-friendly activities including POP Club and Summer Eats, which provides free meals for children. Pick up groceries, grab a bite, or relax in the park while enjoying the programming. Everyone is welcome.

A special night of stories and songs unfolds at The Corner at Middle East Club as three distinctive artists share one stage for a free, all-ages performance. Eli Lev brings award-winning global roots energy, pairing soulful acoustic sounds with uplifting lyrics that foster connection. Rees Shad offers richly told songs that draw from Americana, blues, and folk, shaped by vivid characters and thoughtful arrangements. Kemp Harris blends blues, jazz, soul, and folk, delivering a commanding presence and a deeply expressive voice. Together, they create a three-artist bill of independent music filled with heartfelt storytelling, deep grooves, and expert musicianship.

Music Bingo brings a lively spin to the classic game at CanalSide Food + Drink at CambridgeSide. It is free to play, with prizes awarded in every round. Two or three quick music rounds keep things moving as a DJ plays familiar tracks. Each player receives a unique card filled with song titles and artists. When you hear a song on your card, mark it off and try for five in a row vertically, horizontally, or diagonally to win. The format welcomes casual music fans, competitive players, and groups of friends, and no music knowledge is required.

Practice yoga on the water with a stand up paddleboard session that turns the board into your mat and the water into a calm, meditative setting. The gentle movement underfoot heightens the need for balance, engages the core, and sharpens concentration, while the tranquility of floating pairs naturally with mindful breathing and relaxation. This all-levels class is 75 minutes in total, beginning with a short lesson on land and on the water, then moving into a 65 minute guided yoga practice that concludes with savasana. No previous SUP experience is required, though some familiarity with yoga is recommended. All essential gear is provided, including a paddleboard, paddle, anchor, and personal flotation device. If bringing your own equipment, please reserve a spot set aside for participants supplying their own gear. Expect to build focus, improve balance and core strength, and enjoy a deeper connection with nature. Wear a bathing suit or yoga-friendly layers like shorts or pants with a tank or tee, and add a long sleeve top if the weather calls for it. Bring a towel, a water bottle, sunscreen, and sunglasses, and avoid cotton.

The ZYG 808 takes center stage as the headliner for the open mic at The Jungle Community Music Club.

Recharge at the Rose with a free yoga session held outdoors in front of the Rose Art Museum entrance, featuring Chris Burden’s permanent installation, Light of Reason (2014). The class is led by Brandeis Fitness Coordinator Kat Page and is open to all fitness levels. Registration is capped at 40 participants. Bring a water bottle, a yoga mat if you have one, and workout attire. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.

Join an English At Large Conversation Group for intermediate to advanced English learners to practice speaking and listening. The group is designed to help you build confidence through conversation, meeting once a week for 90 minutes. Registration is handled through English At Large.

Get moving with a free outdoor Zumba class on Waltham Common. All ages and abilities are welcome, and it’s led by instructor Jen Williams with friends. The session runs from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Celebrate the sweet corn season at Gore Place with a Corn Roast featuring roasted corn sourced from local farms, live music, and ice cream. There’s also the Mighty Squirrel biergarten, and you’re welcome to bring a picnic blanket to relax and enjoy the music. Admission is free, and food and drinks are available a la carte on a first-come, first-served basis.

Experience a lively dumpling making party for ages 8 and up. Across 2.5 hours, participants learn how to roll and fold dough, properly stuff dumplings with different fillings, form a range of shapes, and cook them. The atmosphere emphasizes fun over strict precision, making it a relaxed option for friends, families, and loved ones. Capacity is limited to 16 people, and all skill levels are welcome. Dumpling ingredients are included. For children’s groups, one adult must remain for every five children and will require a ticket. The meeting point is The Historic Windsor Inn in Cambridge.

History Unlocked: Drop-In Chats offers open access to Milk Row Cemetery on select dates. It is presented as part of History on the Line, a Somerville Museum series of exhibitions and programs supported by the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism’s MA250 initiative and the City of Somerville. As part of the same effort, the Powder House and Prospect Hill Tower also welcome visitors on scheduled days.
