A Midsummer Night's Dream: Free Shakespeare on the Common

Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common, 130 Tremont St, Boston · verified Aug 9
    Free

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company marks its 30th anniversary with Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common, reimagined as a vibrant festival where rules loosen and self expression blossoms. A group of lovers wanders into a world of freedom and longing, drawn together and pulled apart by magic they cannot steer. Puck, played by The Skivvies’ Nick Cearley, and a crew of fairies remix affections like DJs, turning mischief into transformation and community energy. Directed by CSC Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler, this Free Shakespeare on the Common presentation is offered in partnership with the City of Boston, Mayor Michelle Wu, Boston Parks and Recreation, and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture. Performances are free. All performances include open captioning, and select performances also feature ASL interpretation and audio description with a tactile tour. Audience members may bring modest food, and are asked not to bring umbrellas, tents, or canopies. Blankets and personal chairs are welcome, and chair rentals are available on site or in advance for $10. Reserved premium seating in the Friends Section is available with a donation of $100 or more.
