    2026 Keyblade Open

PlaneWave Instruments INC, 1375 N Main St, Adrian · verified Aug 2
    See details

The 2026 Keyblade Open celebrates its sixth year with two rounds of 18 at The Scope at PlaneWave Instruments. Scoring will be tracked in UDisc. Tee assignments are set by division, with MPO and MA1 on blue tees for both rounds, MA2 splitting one round on white and one on blue, and all other divisions on white tees only. A portion of each entry supports on-course challenges, including $2 per player for CTPs, long drives, and long putts with protected CTPs by division, plus $2 per player for a 50/50 that splits between the winner and the club. There is also an optional $1 Eagle Fund. If available, a small share of Amateur entries may help provide a player pack disc, with the remainder of every Amateur entry directed to payouts issued as credit. Payouts are structured as follows: Pro Open pays the top 40 percent, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 pay the top 45 percent, Advanced 3 and Juniors pay the top 50 percent, and MA4 pays the top three and uses half of that division’s CTP fees. An Eagle or Ace Fund and a 50/50 CTP will highlight Hole 3, with any remaining pot split among the three closest shots at roughly 50 percent for first, 35 percent for second, and 15 percent for third. CTP, long drive, and long putt holes will be announced, and last year’s setup included Hole 1 for MA4 only, Hole 2 for MA3 only, Hole 3 for the 50/50 and Eagle Fund if not hit, Hole 6 for a long putt open to all, Holes 8, 13, and 15 open to all, and Hole 17 for a long drive open to all. The MPO champion earns a Keyblade trophy. Amateur top finishers receive credit to spend on discs and gear from brands such as MVP, Axiom, Streamline, Discraft, and more. This tournament is not PDGA sanctioned, though PDGA and club rules apply. Drugs, vaping, smoking, and alcohol are prohibited, and rules will be enforced. Past champions across divisions include Blake Hohlbein, Travis Kominek, Malachi Peterson, Erika Hein, Ryan Toth, Brysonn Toth, David Leverenz, Jennifer Leverenz, Ben Strickland, Matt Malcolm, Darrell Hohlbein, Grant Hohlbein, Michael Pirkle, Gavin King, Chad Haeussler, Aidan Hosler, Alex Thomas, Julian Harman, Matt Johnson, Nick Miller, and Wally Burmeister. See details

Grammy-nominated guitarist, singer, and songwriter Bill Kirchen marks an album release with a warm homecoming in Ann Arbor. He plans a set that mixes newly recorded songs with favorites from across his long career, along with stories from the road. There is a fair chance a few Dylan tunes will make an appearance. He will be joined by Rick Richards and Jack Saunders from his Texas band for a full honky tonk rock and roll experience. A founding member of Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen, Kirchen is known for the Telecaster sound and riffs that helped propel Hot Rod Lincoln into the national Top Ten. Guitar Player Magazine has recognized his command of the instrument, and his music spans rock and roll, blues, bluegrass, Western swing, and California honky tonk. Over more than five decades he has released a dozen solo albums, toured internationally with Nick Lowe, and performed or recorded with Doug Sahm, Gene Vincent, Elvis Costello, Dan Hicks, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Hornsby, and Link Wray. Look forward to new songs, road-tested gems, and a few hometown memories.
