    Murray Hill

Ann Arbor · Blue LLama Jazz Club, 314 S Main St

From the margins to the marquee, for one night only, comedian Murray Hill brings a tour stop celebrating his debut memoir, Showbiz! My Life as a Middle-Aged Man. One mic, one man, one band, and a lifetime of stories set the tone for a mix of cabaret, stand-up, and candid behind-the-scenes tales. This appearance marks his first comedy show in Ann Arbor. Backed by his swinging live band THE BALONEY SANDWICHES, Murray reshapes the room into a retro-tinged cabaret concert comedy experience, moving seamlessly between storytelling, crowd work, and musical interludes. It is quick-witted, loose, and unpredictable... surprises are part of the fun. The memoir, published by Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books, reflects on difficult chapters and a determination to spark joy through comedy. He describes it as rooted in heart and honesty, shaped by chosen family, resilience, and a perfectly timed punchline, with an emphasis on how to keep going. A VIP package is available and includes a meet and greet, a photo, a physical copy of Showbiz! My Life as a Middle-Aged Man with a personalized signing, and a Showbiz! bookmark. Great Lake Swimmers

Ann Arbor · The Ark - Ann Arbor, 314 S Main St

Great Lake Swimmers bring their evocative indie folk to The Ark - Ann Arbor, led by songwriter Tony Dekker. From Southern Ontario, the group emerged in the early 2000s with deeply atmospheric recordings made in silos and rural churches, often collaborating with a rotating lineup in resonant historic spaces. Acoustic textures and wistful vocals anchor a sound that, on stage, blooms into homespun folk and warmly layered Americana. Their newest album, Caught Light, arrived in October 2025 and stands as their most direct work yet. Tracked over five days in Ontario’s Ganaraska Forest with producer Darcy Yates of Bahamas and engineer Jimmy Bowskill of Blue Rodeo, it nods to early 1970s folk-pop and highlights a more spontaneous side of Dekker’s songwriting. The band has been shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and has earned two Juno Award nominations, drawing strong praise from the CBC. Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Colleen Brown opens, weaving folk, roots, Americana, and pop into her performance.

    Ecstatic Dance

Ann Arbor · Ringstar Studio, 3907 Varsity Dr

Experience an ecstatic dance gathering at Ringstar Studio in Ann Arbor that blends Detroit and A2 communities in a sober, consent-centered, and judgment-free setting. The format includes an opening circle to establish a supportive container, a spacious, nightclub-like dance session, and a closing circle to wind down together. Doors close once the opening circle begins, so plan to arrive on time. This is a conversation-free dance floor to help everyone stay immersed in the music and movement. Singing and emotional expression are welcome, and any chatting can happen in the lobby. Phones and other devices stay off the floor to support presence. Alcohol, drugs, vaping, and marijuana are not permitted. Interactions are consent based: invite with clear signals and eye contact, and feel free to decline or end a dance with a simple Namaste-hands gesture. Photography or video only happens with group consent. Please avoid heavy fragrances, including cannabis scent, due to sensitivities. Admission is offered on a sliding scale of $25 to $40 on the honor system, with a $5 discount for cash payments. You can pay in advance via PayPal or at the door with exact-change cash or PayPal. There are no refunds unless the event is canceled, and none if someone is asked to leave for safety reasons. Founded and facilitated by Charity Loring, LMSW, a licensed mental health and dance therapist, this gathering focuses on creating safe, empowering group connection and has deep roots in Michigan’s ecstatic dance community. Ringstar Studio features thick rubber flooring, strong acoustics, and ADA accessibility, with free lot parking. Expect a wide musical journey that can span world sounds, electronic styles, funk, ambient textures, house, drum and bass, and more. All genders and identities are welcome, and all bodies and abilities are included. All ages can attend, and anyone 16 or younger must be accompanied by an adult who remains in the space throughout. The room is very dark and the music is loud, so consider your needs and those of children. Bring water, a yoga mat if you want to stretch, a pillow or bolster for sitting during circles, and earplugs if helpful. No outdoor shoes are allowed on the dance floor, though clean indoor shoes are welcome. Move however you wish, or rest when needed, and set judgment aside in favor of curiosity and care for yourself and others.

    Bedouine

Ann Arbor · Blue LLama Jazz Club, 314 S Main St

Bedouine, the project of Azniv Korkejian, crafts intimate folk songs that rise from delicate fingerpicking into sweeping emotion. Her new album, Neon Summer Skin, lingers on the sensations of childhood safety and the pull of family, written after visiting her parents in Saudi Arabia and reflecting on growing up and the ache of leaving youth behind. The lyrics lean into specific memories, from the glow of a neon swimsuit and water threading through tangled hair to the solemn image of a lamb’s blood at a Syrian wedding, forming her first collection centered on a single theme. Working closely with longtime collaborator Gus Seyffert, and teaming on select tracks with Jonathan Rado alongside Michael and Brian D’Addario of the Lemon Twigs, she drew inspiration from the melodic touchstones of Todd Rundgren, Karen Carpenter, and Carole King. The production opens into a richer, more playful palette that can feel grand and orchestral, shimmering and dreamlike, with threads of psychedelia, bossa nova, and jazz. Her songwriting has earned praise from outlets including Pitchfork and Rolling Stone, along with an NPR Tiny Desk performance and tours with Fleet Foxes and Father John Misty.
