The fifth edition of On The One Music Festival brings a milestone headliner to Bloomington Central Station, with Grammy-nominated R&B vocalist Carl Thomas leading the bill. Known for signature songs like “I Wish,” “Summer Rain,” and “Emotional,” along with the Grammy-nominated duet “Can’t Believe” with Faith Evans, he remains a defining voice in modern R&B. Conceived for Oliver Tree fans during the week he was originally slated to perform in Minneapolis, the event has grown into a multimedia exploration of loss, legacy, and para-social relationships. Musicians, visual artists, and performance artists are invited to contribute works honoring creators who have passed, including musicians, filmmakers, writers, performers, internet personalities, and cultural icons whose influence endures. The evening features live performances by local artists and poets, a collaborative community mural, and a live tattoo station with an Oliver Tree tribute flash sheet. A Razor scooter auction will raise funds for Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Art Grant for Baby Geniuses. Entry is free, with donations welcome. This is an all-ages program, though some artwork, performances, or discussions may include mature themes, explicit content, and strong language. Plans also include an Oliver Tree sing along tribute DJ set for the final portion of the night, noted as tentative. Shaped by the shared mourning that followed Oliver Tree’s death in June 2026, the exhibition focuses on music, memory, and the ways art helps people navigate grief while celebrating the creators who left a lasting mark. After Keith Morris’s time in Black Flag, he and Greg Hetson launched the group with Roger Rogerson and Lucky Lehrer, shaping a concise, ferocious sound with pointed lyrics. Their debut album Group Sex packed fourteen tracks into sixteen minutes and helped define the genre, and the band went on to appear in cult favorites like Repo Man, New Wave Theatre, and The Slog Movie while releasing six studio albums including Wild in the Streets, Golden Shower of Hits, Wonderful, and IV. Morris and Hetson have remained the steady core through lineup shifts, with bassist Zander Schloss joining in the 1980s. The program marks a return to the stage for the first time in over a decade, celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary and the reissue of Group Sex.

This performance is the band's second to last show. A Midwest tribute to Van Halen will take the stage at a Twin Cities live music venue for two 90-minute sets featuring fan favorites and a few deep cuts from across the catalog, spanning both the David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar eras.

Guitarist Dean Magraw and tabla artist Suwal Singh bring their duo to MetroNOME, focusing on the living conversation between strings and percussion. The set unfolds with shimmering guitar colors and a wide palette of tabla tones, blending melody and groove and moving through a full range of feeling. Magraw’s career spans performing, composing, arranging, producing, and recording. His genre-crossing path includes a long-running partnership with mandolinist Peter Ostroushko, collaborations with Masahiro Nitta, Nigel Kennedy, and Nirmala Rajasekar, work with singers Bruce Henry, Ruth MacKenzie, and Claudia Schmidt, and performances with the Irish group Altan. In jazz circles he plays with Chris Bates and Jay Epstein as Red Planet, and he more recently formed BluLuna. Singh contributes widely to Minnesota’s music community, performing with SitarTabla in Eastern classical settings, MoMoSauce in Nepali music, Yeti Steady for avant-garde soundscapes, Jest in pop rock, and MajMin in world music. His collaborations span many local artists and appearances at Jazz Central Studios, Icehouse, the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, Berlin Jazz Club, KFAI, the Landmark Center, and the Dunsmore Jazz Room. Together, they explore, extend, and celebrate their musical language, weaving rhythms and melodies that invite deep listening and renewal.
