Immerse in a weekend devoted to Usui Reiki Levels 1 and 2, led by Usui Reiki Master Teacher Cindy Kostecki. The training centers on personal healing, awakening, and alignment, offering a pathway to work with universal energy for yourself and in support of others. Through guided attunements, intuitive practices, and hands-on experience, participants learn to sense, channel, and apply Reiki in a grounded, supportive setting. Level 1 lays the foundation with a concise history of Reiki, an attunement, self-care methods, an introduction to the seven main chakras, beginner techniques for self-treatment, and a simple meditation practice for Reiki practitioners. Level 2 builds on that base and requires prior Usui Reiki Level 1 certification. The curriculum introduces three core symbols for power, mental and emotional balance, and distance work, expands skills for treating others, and covers how to establish a practice and thoughtfully integrate Reiki into professional environments such as private sessions, yoga classes, and group offerings. Traditional Japanese methods are included, such as Gassho meditation, Reiji-ho for intuition, Byosen scanning, Koki-ho using the breath, Kenyoku for energetic cleansing, Gyoshi-ho with the eyes, and Jacki-Kiri Joka Ho for clearing objects, along with distance healing through time and space. A Reiki Level 2 practitioner certificate is awarded upon successful completion. Reiki 1 and 2 manuals and a chakra crystal set are provided. Tuition is $459 for both levels, with an early-bird rate of $429 available. Reiki is a Japanese-origin energy practice used to help manage chronic pain, stress, and anxiety by addressing energetic imbalances, with the aim of harmonizing body, mind, and spirit to support healing from within.

A free family event at De Soto Farmers Market invites families to team up for ten cooperative, carnival-style challenges set across playful stations. Complete every activity to earn a prize. Highlights include Frisbee Connect Four, a darts-style game using pool noodles, balloons, or pom poms, a lighthearted junk food toss with shower caps, shaving cream, and Cheetos, a bean bag challenge, a blindfolded Garden Escape minefield, Compost Scrabble, the Cookie Face Race, a Recipe Unscramble, a timed water cup relay that tests your ability to avoid spills, and a Hula Hoop Lasso. Donations will be accepted to help support Back to Play.

The sixth annual sand volleyball tournament benefits Needy Paws Rescue, a St. Louis organization dedicated to saving dogs and caring for them in approved foster homes until they are adopted. Proceeds support surgeries, medications, transportation, food, toys, and other essentials. The tournament offers three coed recreational divisions to welcome all skill levels, with 6-on-6 play. Player registration is 55 dollars and spectator admission is 35 dollars, and both include lunch and an open bar. Winners in each division receive a Needy Paws Rescue T-shirt. Teams may have unlimited substitutes, and no more than three men can be on the court at once. Activities also include a 50/50 drawing, a silent auction, and raffle baskets. Team registration is available with a six player deposit of 165 dollars or a full payment of 330 dollars for a six player team, and only one ticket is required per team.

The day features live music, family friendly fun, and a fireworks show after dark. Barbecue will be served by the Screaming Eagle Grill BBQ Team. Tickets are available for a chance to win a 2026 Ford Maverick truck or $15,000 in cash, in support of BackStoppers.

Downtown Festus hosts the mayor’s car show and cruise, beginning with a display-only showcase at the library and followed by a cruise. A DJ will provide music, and Messie Betty’s Smash Burgers and Funnel King food trucks will be on site. Participation is open to vehicles that are both licensed and insured. Those not planning to cruise can arrive early to choose a comfortable viewing spot. The event is sponsored by Festus Tourism. There is no fee to take part, and vendor spaces are not available.
