Presented by Xtreme Wrestling Center, which identifies as the Kansas City Metro’s longest running professional wrestling program, the training team brings more than 50 years of combined experience. Raytown Trans Joy In The Park is a community potluck picnic that centers trans joy while welcoming everyone, both transgender and cisgender, to share space and connection. In warm weather the gathering takes place at C. Lee Kenagy Park, typically in the grassy area just south of the skate park. When it is cold or raining, it moves indoors to the multipurpose room at Southwood UCC. People who are curious about trans experiences, or who have trans or queer loved ones and want to learn more, will find an open, community-focused setting.

An evening of BMX practice features two open practice sessions with a brief window reserved for balance bike riders on the big track. The dedicated balance bike track remains available for the length of the event. Balance bike riders pay no practice fee, but a membership is required at $40 per year, and each rider must register for every event. Access to the big track for balance bikes is limited to the short reserved period. Concessions are open, and the grill is running for food and drinks. All riders must have a current USA BMX membership. Brand new riders can try the sport at no cost with a one day trial membership, and volunteers are on site to help newcomers get comfortable. For safety, riders should wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed toe shoes, and bring a helmet. Loaner helmets are available, and a limited number of loaner bikes are offered.

Set at Bridge Space, the atmosphere is casual and intimate, much like friends trading favorite tales. Popcorn is provided, and guests may bring their own beverages for a relaxed bring-your-own-beverage format. Whether revisiting cherished moments or learning about landmarks around downtown, this program builds meaningful connections between yesterday and today. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated to support the museum’s ongoing preservation work.
