This is a state-mandated qualification course that includes classroom instruction on handgun operation, safe storage, holster use, and the legal use of force. After lunch, the class moves to the range for the live-fire portion required for licensure. The day also covers topics like Castle Doctrine laws, and how to interact with law enforcement after a self-defense incident. You must bring a current driver’s license for your state of residence to receive the paperwork. If you don’t have a firearm for the qualification portion, a .22 semi-automatic may be available to rent for an extra fee, and ammunition is additional.
