A beginner option of about 27 miles at roughly 14 to 16 miles per hour may be added based on interest and the availability of a leader, focusing on conversational pacing, endurance, skills development, one rest stop, and a firm no-drop approach. Safety and preparedness are central to this ride. Helmets are required. Road bikes are strongly recommended, while front and rear lights, protective glasses, and gloves are encouraged. Riders are responsible for personal hydration and nutrition, should be able to handle basic bike fixes like flat repairs and brake adjustments, and are expected to know the route or have it downloaded in case of separation. Carrying a cell phone and emergency contact information is recommended. Riders must stay within their lane, keep at least one hand on the bars at all times, and be aware that portions of the routes include urban traffic. Participation is at each individual’s own risk, and event information is provided without guarantee.
