Presented by Food Lion Feeds and the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, this charitable gathering supports efforts to end hunger in the Metrolina region by raising awareness and funds. Potters of many ages and skill levels will contribute hundreds of unique ceramic bowls, serving as a meaningful reminder that some neighbors face empty bowls and that ongoing action is needed. The experience includes a pottery demonstration by Clayworks, a large silent auction with close to 200 packages, and a raffle. A boxed lunch prepared by the Charlotte Convention Center team is included, and guests can choose from a wide assortment of handmade bowls. Second Chance Sample Giveaway 2026

A free creative reuse event in Charlotte transforms surplus design and construction samples into community resources at Innovation Barn. This annual community initiative is a large sustainability gathering that keeps high quality materials out of the landfill and puts them back into the hands of artists, educators, makers, DIYers, and other creative problem solvers. Since launch, more than 40 tons of materials have been diverted, including over 17,000 pounds last year. Everything is free for the community while supplies last. Among the largest dog events in the Charlotte area, Paws in the Park brings a full day of pet friendly fun to Pineville Lake Park. Expect rescue groups and animal shelters with adoptable dogs and fundraising items, food trucks, business and arts and crafts vendors, a pet blessing at the stage, playful dog contests, a photo booth, a kids playground, energetic Frisbee performances by the Dare Devil Dogs, and live music from Chairmen of the Board on the main stage. DJ Darin Page Henley keeps the music going, and WBTV’s Rachel Coulter helps host the on-stage contests. Dog contests are free to enter, with sign up at the Charlotte Black Dogs tent, space limited to 15 dogs per category, and winners chosen by audience applause. Categories include the smallest dog at least one year old, the largest dog measured around the chest, best trick, best dressed female, best dressed male, and best dressed group with two to five dogs. The performance lasts about 60 minutes. Doors open 45 minutes before the music starts, and there is no late entry once the concert begins. The venue is ADA compliant. Guests must be at least 8 years old, and anyone under 16 must attend with an adult. Seating within each zone is assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Goat Island Games

Goat Island Games brings families and neighbors together for a full day of outdoor recreation and Cramerton pride. This multi-sport festival continues to grow each year, welcoming runners, riders, competitors, and spectators from across the Carolinas. This edition also features an America 250 celebration as an official Gaston 250 event, with the signature Goat Island goat logo taking on a patriotic look. Runners and other participants are encouraged to wear patriotic attire. The schedule spans 5K and 5-mile runs, a disc golf tournament with a beginner clinic hosted by the G-Town Disc Golf Club, a mountain bike adventure race with Tarheel Trailblazers, group workouts with Immortal Athletics, a group walk with SHE Runs This Town, a disc golf putting contest, fishing, ping pong, cornhole, and a pickleball tournament held at the C.B. Huss Recreation Center. After the races, a post-race festival features live music by Caleb Davis. Most activities take place on or around Goat Island Park, a 30-acre island park on the South Fork Catawba River near downtown Cramerton. The event is also part of the Run Gaston Race Series. An eight week walking support group brings women together at Reedy Creek Park in Charlotte for community, wellness, and movement. Day of Mindfulness In the Heart of Reedy Creek Park

Set within the forested heart of Charlotte at Reedy Creek Park, this Day of Mindfulness offers a chance to slow down, restore energy, and reconnect with yourself and the community. The program includes seated and walking meditation, somatic movement practiced with mindfulness, songs, brief readings or teachings, and opportunities to share together. If the weather cooperates, portions will unfold outdoors among the trees, with indoor space available if needed. Inspired by the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, the gathering welcomes people of any faith tradition as well as those with none. After the main practice period, attendees may stay for a mindful potluck meal that begins in silence and later opens to conversation. Arriving a little early helps everyone settle in. Consider bringing a water bottle, a seat cushion, with a limited number provided on site, a journal, and a spirit of openness. If rain is likely, dress for the conditions. The event follows the practice of dana, meaning generosity. No contribution is required, and offerings of food, financial support, or help tidying up are appreciated.

RiverFest

This family friendly festival marks its seventh year celebrating local waterways with activities and entertainment. Highlights include live music, kayaking, food trucks, craft beer, artisans, local vendors, and activities for kids. The main gathering takes place in McAdenville, then a floating concert will travel along the South Fork River to Cramerton. Afterward, the festivities continue at Confluence in Cramerton with additional live music and karaoke. There is no cost to attend, and there is an opportunity to support Catawba Riverkeeper and local waterways through drink purchases and tickets for the floating concert.

The Art of Pickling

Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on pickling class at Haberdish led by Executive Chef Alexandre Falardeau, known as Chef Lex. The session blends a look at the history and science of pickling, with a focus on Southern traditions, and step-by-step guidance as everyone builds personalized jars. Participants will select from classic vegetables like cucumbers, carrots, peppers, and onions, along with seasonal and local choices, then layer in spices and seasonings to create custom flavors. Each jar is finished with one of the house brines, and recipe cards are provided to make it easy to repeat the process at home. Palisades High School Band Mattress Fundraiser

A mattress fundraiser at Palisades High School benefits the band program and is now in its third year. Over the past two years, this event has raised $14,500 for students. Attendees can try more than 30 mattresses on site, and friendly staff will be available to help compare options and answer questions. Mattresses start at $152.10 with a coupon, with prices increasing in $50 to $100 steps across value, mid range and premium choices. The band receives proceeds from every sale. After a selection is made, a new mattress is ordered in the preferred size. Home delivery with old mattress removal is available 2 to 4 weeks after ordering, and free pickup from the Charlotte warehouse is 2 to 3 weeks after ordering. Brands include names such as Purple, Simmons Beautyrest and Tranquility Sleep Systems, and accessories like adjustable power bases, box springs, pillows, protectors and metal frames are available with a mattress purchase. Day of Mindfulness In the Heart of Reedy Creek Park

Select the project that fits your style, whether that is a charcuterie board with a river design, a lazy susan, a clock, a key holder shelf, a set of coasters, or a mini pair. Using black walnut and other quality hardwoods, participants personalize their piece with up to two epoxy colors chosen on arrival. When the class wraps up, each project stays behind for curing and professional finishing. Class 2 (2026-2027) Auditions for Dingle Drama Repertory Company

Auditions are open for a one year professional repertory company and training program for actors and improvisers. This ensemble based company brings together committed performers to train, create, and perform across 12 months, meeting one weekend each month to focus on acting craft, improvisation, ensemble work, and performance development, with three showcase performances included. Registration is a required two step process that includes completing a form and selecting an audition slot, and it is only complete once both parts are finished. Audition preparation includes a two minute monologue, and singers should also prepare a 32 bar song. The audition will include a brief interview and an improvised scene. Summer Art Camp (7+)

Young artists can explore a mix of creative techniques at A Little Bit of Art, from ceramics and ceramic pouring to canvas and wood painting, clay hand building, candle making, and glass fusing. Participants complete a collection of projects with an estimated total value of about $396. The camp is open to ages 7 and up. Tuition is $295 per child. A $100 deposit holds a spot, and the remaining $195 is due one week before the start. Space is limited, and all activities take place at the studio.

Elite Performance Camp

Geared toward teens ready to raise their level, the Elite Performance Camp focuses on increasing the pace of play, sharpening technical ability, and delivering under pressure in game situations. Training highlights include rapid decision making, precise execution, and competitive match-style scenarios. It is designed for ages 13 to 19 and takes place at The GoalDen.

Santana & The Doobie Brothers - Oneness Tour 2026

Rock legends Santana and The Doobie Brothers unite for a co-headlining concert at Truliant Amphitheater. The show takes place in an open-air setting, with portions of the reserved seating located under cover, and it is scheduled to proceed regardless of weather.
