Planet Pluto brings a live performance to Incendiary Brewing Greensboro.

Creative Greensboro, in partnership with Little Independent Theatre, Scrapmettle, and Shared Radiance Performing Arts presents Sonnet Fest, a free performance event featuring creative interpretations of Shakespeare’s sonnets 51 through 103. The action takes place along the west side of the Downtown Greenway, where multiple groups bring the sonnets to life at public art installations, and the audience rotates between performances to experience the full set over the festival run. Donations are accepted, and pre-registration is requested so attendees can receive a festival map and details.

Irata celebrates the release of its new album, Human, at Flat Iron in Greensboro, NC. Special guests include Nathan Arizona and the New Mexicans from Alamance, NC, and Gray Young from Raleigh, NC. At Flat Iron, Irata marks the release of Human alongside Gray Young and Nathan Arizona & The New Mexicans. Founded in 2007 by Jon Case and Jason Ward, the band has continually reshaped its heavy rock identity while keeping a mesmerizing lock between bass and drums. After releasing Tower in 2019 as a four-piece, Irata is now a trio pushing into fresh territory. Human builds on the elements behind many of their enduring songs, from rumbling bass lines and trance-like drums to sweeping choruses, balancing refinement with raw expression. "Altar" opens with measured patience, a clear melodic thread runs through all eight tracks, and songs like "Slipped" and the expansive closer "Daystar" deepen the atmosphere without losing an organic pulse. In an age of machine-made art, the record stands as a human statement centered on vocal melody and intricate riffing, moving like two halves of one image from final reflections toward a transformed beginning. The album was recorded with longtime friends Hunter Allen and Adam Joyce of The Bronzed Chorus at Amplified Acres and mixed by J. Robbins at The Magpie Cage. Tickets are $15, with day-of entry priced at $20.

An under-the-sea themed princess ball presented by Reserving Royalty’s Magic Makers invites families to a colorful celebration filled with ocean-inspired fun. The eighth annual gathering features a lively mermaid stage show with live singing and dancing, interactive games, hands-on crafts and mini makeovers, plus the return of sensory play stations. Guests can sip mermaid lemonade and enjoy meet and greets with The Little Mermaid, a whimsical Mermicorn, and a host of favorite princess pals. Portions of the experience are planned indoors and outdoors, weather permitting, and the festivities will continue regardless of the forecast. Each child’s ticket includes entry for one adult, with additional adult tickets available. A ticket is required for everyone over 12 months, and children under 12 months may attend at no cost with a ticketed adult. All children must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. The event is open to the community, and school age children must be present to receive supplies, with one set available per student in each family. Community resource providers will also be on site to share information. Donations of school and cookout supplies are being accepted, including backpacks, writing tools, paper and notebooks, folders and binders, and glue. Made possible through collaboration with Sistrunk Learning Together Community Corner and friends across the 336 Triad, the Out of School Cookout focuses on uplifting families and helping students start the school year prepared.
