The event is organized by Cabarrus Homeschool Information Hub in memory of Paul Bell, a Brookdale Baptist member known for helping those in need. All donations will benefit the church. Kannapolis is approximately 25 minutes from Charlotte and about an hour from Winston Salem, the hometown of racing legend Dale Earnhardt. Race Director Rose Saltzman, a five-time Ironman athlete who competed at the World Championships in France in 2024, will also lead race and transition clinics ahead of the event.

Young creators explore Minecraft while turning ideas into real builds with LEGO bricks and other STEM materials. Practical build challenges invite them to plan and construct ambitious structures, tackle engineering challenges, and work together. Along the way they strengthen critical thinking and spatial skills as they imagine tall castles, complex machines, and fantastical worlds. This camp is designed for students in grades 3 through 8, ages 8 to 14, and offers a fun, interactive setting for growing design and construction skills. The fee is $275 per child. Optional extended care is available for an additional $10 for early drop off and $10 for late pick up.

SHUG’s at Brooklyn South Square hosts a five year celebration with a Malört themed night of live music. The bill features Joshua Quimby, raised in small town Connecticut and based in Nashville since 2019, an alternative country folk singer songwriter and guitar player whose work has attracted hundreds of thousands of listeners and followers across platforms and has amassed millions of streams. Matt Pless brings a blend of folk, punk, pop, and rock. Known for sharp wordplay and a high energy performance style, he tours widely with guitar and harmonica, has played across Europe and throughout the U.S., and has shared stages with Maroon 5, Rilo Kiley, Alkaline Trio, Arlo Guthrie, Bad Brains, Fallout Boy, All Time Low, and others. Crow With No Mouth, a Salisbury based trio formed in September 2024, delivers an alternative dark and indie folk sound. Iain Rocco, Sarah Skye, and Duke Wicker move from somber to intense with rhythm, emotion, and raw passion, drawing influences from Amigo The Devil, Bon Iver, and Bridge City Sinners. This program is part of By the People, Music from the Old North State, a series that explores North Carolina’s musical heritage through events hosted by NC Humanities with partners Arts of the Albemarle, the Earl Scruggs Center, and the NC Music Hall of Fame to encourage dialogue and honor culture bearers. It also connects with By the People: Conversations Beyond 250, a collaborative effort among humanities councils and local partners that examines 250 years of the nation’s cultural life and considers a shared future, developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as a complement to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.

Amateur milliner Nancy of Nanci's Fancies will spend the day constructing a silk bonnet from the ground up, answering questions along the way. From shaping the frame to crafting custom trim, the entire process will be demonstrated step by step. Displays will show each stage so visitors can see the progression at any time, material samples will be available to examine, and supplies will be on hand for anyone who wants to try a simple doll-sized bonnet to take home. This hands-on demonstration supports Rowan Museum in Salisbury, which preserves the history of Rowan County. In honor of the museum’s home in the old courthouse that houses the museum, the finished piece will reflect an 1850s style. There is no admission fee to watch or participate, though a minimum donation of $5 to the museum is suggested. Every $5 adds one entry to a drawing for the completed bonnet at the end of the day. Comparable handmade bonnets often range from $175 to $350 depending on materials and ornament, and this one will be silk and richly decorated. Families are invited to a free, hands-on Touch-A-Truck experience presented by the Town of Landis. Kids can climb in and get a close look at a wide range of vehicles, including fire trucks, police cruisers, dump trucks, utility trucks, and more. Meet the professionals who operate the equipment, ask questions, and take plenty of photos. The event is designed for all ages, with lights and sirens and plenty of smiles creating a fun and educational atmosphere in the heart of Landis. Admission is free and the outing is especially welcoming for children and anyone curious about the machines that keep the community running.

Thomas the Tank Engine rolls into the North Carolina Transportation Museum for a music themed Day Out With Thomas. This family event, presented at heritage railways worldwide, includes a ticketed train ride with a full size Thomas the Tank Engine and access to a day packed with activities. Percy rides can be added for an extra fee, and this is the only spot in North Carolina that offers train rides with Percy. Onsite fun includes photos with Sir Topham Hatt, a maze built from hay bales, temporary tattoos, character inflatables, oversized lawn games, a music show, model railroad layouts, food vendors, picnic shelters, and a large gift shop. Visitors can also explore three exhibit buildings that highlight North Carolina’s transportation history, featuring rail cars, antique automobiles, and a replica of the Wright Brothers flyer.

The Raphael Graves Duo brings a dynamic set to Shug’s Stage at SHUG’s at Brooklyn South Square. The venue is 21 and up. Raphael Graves has been performing and recording in Western North Carolina since 2008, with additional work in theatre and music video direction. Rooted in rock vocals yet active across many styles, he has appeared in tributes to Jane’s Addiction and Pink Floyd, leads the 80’s tribute act LAZRLUVR, and continues to create original, multi-genre music. After being displaced from Asheville in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in 2024, he remains active with a full schedule. As of 2025 he has produced or co-produced four studio records dating back to 2010, earning multiple WNC awards as a vocalist and recognition from Asheville’s MountainXpress as a top regional singer. Known for genre-hopping versatility and a committed stage presence, his shows often take unpredictable turns and have sold out across North and South Carolina. The duo ranges from good old rock and roll to modern Appalachian Americana, blending performance art and storytelling with themes of love, culture, resilience, and adventure.

Her set blends familiar covers with original songs, creating a mix that is both recognizable and uniquely her own. Active in the North Carolina music scene, she delivers a guitar centered show that spans decades and showcases her songwriting.

Local craft and food vendors come together for a fall market created to uplift small, handmade businesses. Organized by a small business that grew through vendor events, it offers an affordable, well organized, and creative setting for makers to showcase, advertise, and sell their work. Shoppers can attend at no cost, and vendor spaces are available for a fee with savings through an early bird or combo market special. Hosted at the Old Town Soap Co. Warehouse, the event asks vendors to include all requested information when registering, and encourages the community to spread the word to artists, makers, and growers.
