    3 Day CARE Intensive

Peace, Love & Oils - Your Holistic Haven, 5730 S Main St, Salisbury
    See details

This three day CARE intensive offers an immersive blend of learning and hands on practice led by instructors Amy Power, CCI, and Ismenia Azcanio, FCCI. Over the full curriculum, participants explore the Raindrop Technique, Vitaflex skills, the science of essential oils, emotional release, and the history of anointing and laying on of hands, a course previously known as Healing Oils of the Bible. Completing all sessions provides 25 hours of instruction with practical applications of essential oils and confers 25 continuing education hours for massage therapists and bodyworkers through the Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education, an approved provider with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. The training also serves as the first step toward becoming a Certified Raindrop Technique Specialist and a Licensed Spiritual Healer or Health Coach through CARE. Beyond classroom hours, candidates complete practicums and a proctored exam to demonstrate proficiency in Raindrop and Vitaflex, followed by additional online requirements that will be outlined during the course. Participants may enroll in the complete program or select individual modules. Applied Vitaflex, History of Anointing and Laying on of Hands, Raindrop I and II, Chemistry I and II, and Emotional Release are available a la carte with defined CEU values and fees. The full 25 hour package is offered at $800, which is a savings compared with purchasing all modules separately at $1,015. Prerequisites apply in sequence for these studies, including Vitaflex before Raindrop I, Raindrop I before Raindrop II, and Chemistry I before Chemistry II. Enrollment for Raindrop and Vitaflex is limited to support focused, hands on attention, while the other classes do not have a set cap. Seminar fees include class notes, the essential oils used during training, handouts, a CCI Handbook, and a certificate acknowledging participation. Attendees are asked to bring two twin sheets, a pillowcase, a bath towel, and a hand towel. Bringing a Bible is encouraged for the History of Anointing session, and those who already own The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple may find it helpful to reference during the chemistry portions. Breakfast and lunch are available for an additional $25 per day, with complimentary coffee, hot tea, and water provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle. Menus will be shared in advance and will feature options that emphasize organic and non GMO ingredients. Required books and DVDs for those pursuing CRTS or CCI will not be sold on site. A group preorder will be organized ahead of time so materials can be picked up at the first session, and personal copies are welcome. Payment can be made electronically or by mail, and spots are secured once full payment is received. Cancellations made no later than ten weeks prior are refundable minus a $100 processing fee. Nearby lodging options are plentiful, and the closest major airports include Charlotte Douglas International and Piedmont Triad International.

    Bonnet in a Day

Rail Walk Studios & Gallery, 413 N Lee St, Salisbury
    See details

Curious about how ornate Victorian bonnets come together? Amateur milliner Nancy of Nanci's Fancies will spend the day constructing a silk bonnet from the ground up, answering questions along the way. From shaping the frame to crafting custom trim, the entire process will be demonstrated step by step. Displays will show each stage so visitors can see the progression at any time, material samples will be available to examine, and supplies will be on hand for anyone who wants to try a simple doll-sized bonnet to take home. This hands-on demonstration supports Rowan Museum in Salisbury, which preserves the history of Rowan County. In honor of the museum’s home in the old courthouse that houses the museum, the finished piece will reflect an 1850s style. There is no admission fee to watch or participate, though a minimum donation of $5 to the museum is suggested. Every $5 adds one entry to a drawing for the completed bonnet at the end of the day. Comparable handmade bonnets often range from $175 to $350 depending on materials and ornament, and this one will be silk and richly decorated. Those who cannot attend can donate by phone during the event for a chance to be entered in the drawing.
