New Mexico Comic Expo fills Marriott Albuquerque with a two-day celebration of comics, pop culture, cosplay, gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and fandom. Battle four relentless outbreaks in a head-to-head Pandemic tournament at Empire Board Game Library. Teams of two compete across synchronized games where the draw and infection decks are identically ordered, spotlighting teamwork and strategy over luck. Only one simultaneous round is played. The field is capped at 12 teams. Entry is $25 per team and includes a day pass for open gaming beyond the tournament. Sign-up sheets will be available at the front counter. Prizes are awarded to top finishers and to the best costumes. Standings are determined by the fewest turns needed to cure all four diseases, or by which team endures the longest if cures are not completed.

Created for dancers 30 and up, Bed By 10 revives the spirit of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s club scene. A resident DJ serves up classic floor-fillers while immersive production sets the tone with striking visuals, confetti bursts, and CO2 cannons. The atmosphere centers on great music, easy conversation, and upbeat energy, and the night winds down early so the next day stays wide open.

The 7th Annual Leopold Lecture brings Joy Harjo to the KiMo Theatre for an evening of readings and spoken storytelling that traces the ties between people, culture, and the natural world. Drawing on Indigenous traditions, her work shows how land, memory, and community are connected and encourages thoughtful reflection on a shared relationship with the Earth. Joy Harjo, the 23rd U.S. Poet Laureate and a member of the Muscogee Nation, is the author of numerous poetry collections, several plays, children’s books, two memoirs, and seven music albums. Her honors include Yale’s 2023 Bollingen Prize for American Poetry, the National Book Critics Circle Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award, the Ruth Lily Prize from the Poetry Foundation, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Tulsa Artist Fellowship. She has served as a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and as Chair of the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation, and she is the inaugural Artist-in-Residence for the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Milonga Suerte Loca is a monthly tango gathering that welcomes dancers into Las Puertas to connect through dance, conversation, and atmosphere. It is known for standout sound and an iconic, uniquely styled venue. Expect a chill, flowing ronda with dancers moving to the music. The DJ is to be determined.

An Albuquerque golf tournament at Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course aims to support families throughout the holiday season, especially from Thanksgiving into the New Year. The round is played as a best ball scramble, creating a team-focused day on the course.
