Saturday Riftbound Double Header Play Events

A two-part Riftbound play day at The People's Card Shop features consecutive constructed tournaments using best-of-three matches across three rounds, with a $10 entry for each event. Every match win earns a booster pack, and anyone who completes all three rounds without a win still receives one pack for participating. The first event offers extra recognition for top performers determined by attendance, with additional prizes for players in the top group. There is also a bonus that rewards each distinct deck represented among those top finishers. The second event introduces a bounty twist. One or more bounty players, selected based on attendance, start with three booster packs each. Defeat a bounty player in a match to claim one of their packs. If the bounty player wins, they keep their packs, and bounty packs are only awarded when a bounty player is beaten. A raffle may be held after round two for a chance at items such as free entry, sleeves, snacks, and more. A judge will be available to clarify rules during gameplay and will not provide strategic advice. Trading between players is welcome, but buying or selling outside official store transactions is not allowed and may result in removal or other action. To keep the space comfortable, please avoid bringing large items like suitcases or carts for trade stock. Keep food and drinks away from game tables unless signage permits it, refrain from roughhousing or foul language, and report lost or unattended items to a team member. Have fun and play your best. All tournaments are subject to change or cancellation, and some events may require tickets. For the most current information, speak with the tournament organizer or a team member in-store. Registration through a tournament organization app does not guarantee entry, with the exception of Bandai events.

Himalayan Balsam Removal

Help restore native habitats at Rotherlands Nature Reserve by tackling Himalayan balsam, a showy but invasive plant that crowds out local flora and draws pollinators away from wildflowers. When this species dies back in winter it can leave bare ground along watercourses, making banks vulnerable to erosion during high flows and contributing to sediment that creates lifeless patches on the River Rother’s bed. The task is simple and tool free, as the plants have shallow root systems that can be removed by hand. For comfort and safety, bring gardening gloves, wear sturdy footwear suited to damp, uneven terrain, use insect repellent, and cover arms and legs to guard against brambles and nettles. This conservation effort is a collaboration between PeCAN and Western Sussex Rivers Trust, with support from Petersfield Town Council.

Hip-Hop 5k

Hip Hop 5K is a run with a mission to uplift songwriters and other creatives through culture, wellness, and community engagement. Created by Protect The Creatives, it shines a light on a persistent music industry challenge. Many of the writers behind the songs people love do not receive fair royalties, access to education, or meaningful opportunities. In Las Vegas, estimates point to nearly 18,000 songwriters, yet fewer than one quarter are believed to receive royalties for their work. Bringing together the unifying pull of hip hop, physical activity, and live experiences, the event advances health, economic opportunity, creative education, and stronger community ties. By blending music culture with movement, it encourages healthier lifestyles while raising support for programs like music publishing education, mentorship, performance opportunities, and community initiatives. Whether participating in the run, helping on the ground, sponsoring, or cheering from the sidelines, every role contributes to a future where creatives are more protected, better informed, and positioned to thrive.
