    Celebrate October Big Day with a guided bird walk at the Marine Nature Study Area, led by a member of SSAS. This free outing welcomes the public, and young birders are especially encouraged to participate. Walks with SSAS typically take place most weekends, on either Saturday or Sunday mornings, from late August through early June. If it rains, the walk is canceled. To register, send a text to Joe Landesberg at 516-467-9498 and include your name and a mobile number for any cancellation updates. For directions, travel south on Long Beach Road from Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, turn left onto Waukena Avenue and follow the brown sanctuary signs. Turn right at the light onto Park Avenue, then left on Golf Drive. Continue to Slice Drive, turn right, and go one short block into the sanctuary.
