The band highlights the dance roots of the genre, from the easy sway of the blues to partner-ready styles like swing, tango, and the waltz, presented through the ensemble’s lively big band sound. Selections span classics associated with Count Basie alongside fresh arrangements of songs by Stevie Wonder and the Rolling Stones, showing the many ways a big band can surprise. Created in 2021 to revive the big band tradition locally and formally organized as a nonprofit in 2025, this 16-piece orchestra features five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, and a rhythm section of piano, bass, and drums, uniting seasoned professionals with dedicated, experienced amateurs to bring vibrant live jazz to Yonkers audiences.

Guided by the spirit of Revolutionary Love shared by Ani DiFranco, this circle centers on compassionate listening to oneself and to others. Participants pause, become present to what is, and connect in new ways, listening with the ears of the heart. Speaking stories aloud allows words and emotions to weave lives together, reminding everyone that no one is alone and that learning can flow from each voice. Each person is encouraged to add a uniquely colored thread to the shared tapestry, to bring what they have and ask for what they need. This is a monthly space devoted to loving listening and the growth of community, and it is open to all.
