West African drum and dance take center stage at South Wedge Mission with master performer and teacher Mohamed Diaby, sharing the energetic rhythms of Guinea. This monthly 5k series brings a relaxed, welcoming race to the canal each second Tuesday from April through September. A calming creative session centered on diamond painting, designed as a supportive space where recovery and self expression meet. Participants place gems to form artwork one piece at a time, using the mindful process to reflect on patience, progress, and the steady pace of rebuilding in recovery. Diamond painting can ease stress, sharpen focus, and encourage mindfulness. No prior art experience is required. Materials are available, or participants may bring their own kit. It is family friendly, with children welcome under parent or guardian supervision. This free event is open to anyone with at least 48 hours of continuous sobriety. First time participants are asked to complete a membership questionnaire in advance. The class meets every other Thursday, offering time to connect with others in recovery, share conversation, and leave with a finished piece of art.
