The Akron-Summit County Public Library, in partnership with Ohio Goes to the Movies, will be showing Jim Jarmuschs "Down By Law". This is a free screening. There will be a reception before the screening that includes free food, drinks, Blu-ray giveaways, and newly commissioned "Down by Law" movie posters from artist Shane Lewis. The movie starts at 2 pm with an introduction from Mike Wendt of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission. A journey through Northeast Ohio movie history will be presented by the Western Reserve Historical Society after the screening. Please note, the film contains content and language not suitable for children. In the film, two men are framed and sent to jail, where they meet a criminal who helps them escape and leave the state.

Attendees can take away simple practices to continue using after they leave the park. The guide is Jared Sparks, MA, LPCC-S, a licensed clinical counselor with experience in trauma, anxiety, depression, and adolescent mental health. His approach draws from evidence-based methods including DBT, ACT, CBT, EMDR, and TF-CBT to build resilience, emotional regulation, and connection. The event is free and open to all, and registration is requested.

Goodwill Thrift Crawl
Goodwill’s inaugural Thrift Crawl rolls out from the Goodwill Ken Weber Campus for a curated day of thrifting at three stores, community connection, and mission impact. The experience begins at the campus with light breakfast and mimosas, along with an inside look at the mission-driven work happening there. Participants then board a chartered bus stocked with light snacks, and bringing your own beverage is welcome for the ride. The route includes dedicated shopping time at the Foxboro or Jackson location, continues to the Canton Outlet for more treasure hunting with a provided lunch, and finishes at the North Canton store before returning to the campus. Included throughout the day are transportation between all stops, a special tote bag with additional giveaways, on-board refreshments, and a relaxed, social atmosphere focused on fun finds. Every purchase made during the crawl supports Goodwill programs that provide job training, employment services, and other community resources in the region. Space is limited for this experience.
