Mary Ingles Trail Associates presents an encampment and living history reenactment at Beech Fork State Park that highlights the legacy of Mary Draper Ingles. The focus is on the everyday abilities and know-how that she, her family, friends, and neighbors relied on to get by in the 18th century. Historical interpreters and craft demonstrators share period skills with an emphasis on education and accuracy.

With a history spanning more than three decades, this festival offers a full slate of experiences for all ages. The Southern Fried Cone Fest skateboard race welcomes competitors from across the United States. Visitors can sample a variety of food, specialty beverages, and sweet treats from numerous vendors, and browse handmade work from artisans and crafters. Families will find children’s amusements and games, along with free activity tents for kids. Live music continues throughout the event, featuring local and regional bands alongside national touring acts.

Teddy Bear Check Up is a fun, interactive program where children and their favorite stuffed animals explore health and wellness with Nurse Patty and Charlie. This session centers on taste, inviting kids to discover how the tongue helps identify flavors and how the senses work together to make eating enjoyable. Through hands-on activities and sensory play, participants investigate flavors including sweet, salty, and sour while building comfort and confidence with healthcare and wellness through pretend play. Designed for toddlers through early elementary ages, it nurtures curiosity, healthy habits, and positive interactions with caring professionals in a welcoming setting. Participation is included with admission.
