Frank’s Place sets the scene for a laid-back game day gathering with football on the TVs, ice-cold drinks, and a menu from Reservoir Hogs BBQ. Expect pulled pork, award-winning ribs, chicken wings, brisket, cowboy beans, and stuffed pulled pork nachos, offering a fresh take on comfort favorites. Team colors, good company, and a lively football atmosphere round out the experience.

The monthly meeting takes place at the main branch of Boyd County Library.

Pinball League meets at Old North Arcade in Huntington. Players of any experience level are welcome. No registration is required, and walk-in play is available.

No sewing experience is needed for this beginner class. Learn how to use a sewing machine, rotary cutters, rulers, and templates, as well as how to calculate fabric needs to reduce waste. Participants will make a quilt and learn sewing terminology along the way. Bring a sewing machine and scissors. The quilt requires 12 fat quarters, with fabric available to choose from at the shop. The class fee is $10 per week.

Settle in for a calm, hands-on session of listening and learning at Huntington Children's Museum. This month’s Sound Exploration invites kids and their grownups to slow down, tune in, and explore how sound waves travel through our world. Through guided demonstrations and opportunities to try a range of instruments, participants can observe, feel, and hear the science of sound in action. Led by Sarah from Sounds with Sarah, this interactive program is suitable for children of every age along with their accompanying adults. Admission to the museum covers participation.

A relaxed gathering for people who have been knitting or crocheting for two years or less to continue learning, ask questions, and get help with their projects. All fiber crafts are welcome, and participants can come and go as they wish.

Camp Chase Connection presents a traveling museum and a history talk at Guyandotte United Methodist Church, highlighting the links between Camp Chase and Guyandotte, Virginia. The mobile collection features hand carved artwork created by prisoners of war, personal letters, restraints, medical instruments, and intricate dioramas that depict the site’s buildings and layout. The program also traces the story of Camp Chase, established in May 1861 as a 160 acre military complex situated about four miles west of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Named for Salmon P. Chase, a former Ohio governor and Abraham Lincoln’s secretary of the treasury, it expanded from a Union training post into one of the North’s largest and most notorious prison camps.

A $6,000 bingo night is set at the 17th Street Annex, offering an evening dedicated to the game.

The program offers a full slate of living history centered around Guyandotte. It begins with an Education Day, then moves into community activities at Guyandotte Methodist Church that include breakfast, participant registration, an opening ceremony, an officers call and a formal Military Ball. Military drills take place in front of VFW Post 1064, with firearm checks scheduled between officers call and lunch. Battle portrayals feature a reenactment of the Raid on Guyandotte, followed by additional post battle scenarios and open hours when camps welcome visitors. A ticketed tea for ladies is hosted at the church. Later programming features another officers call, more time for the public to visit camps and a church lunch, a memorial service outside the VFW and a scene depicting marching prisoners. The series concludes with a reenactment focused on the Federal destruction of Guyandotte, then a short segment on saving the Maddie Carroll House, before the camps close. The Maddie Carroll House is also open to the public. The schedule is subject to minor updates.

History Hero Peter Ottaviano leads a talk exploring Civil War era music and the instruments that brought it to life. A display of various instruments will be featured, along with elements of vaudeville and an old time medical show. He also plans to perform on the world’s smallest harmonica.

Karen Waldrup, a Top 5 finisher on NBC’s The Voice and a viral country favorite with more than a million followers and over 500 million video views, shares the bill.
