This popular, free stuffed animal program invites children to create a tortoise companion and send it on a make-believe trip around the world. Before heading off, the tortoise stops to bid farewell to its animal friends. The experience is inspired by the book See You Later, Alligator by Sally Hopgood. It is designed for ages 2 and 3, and older siblings are welcome to help. Registration is required. A separate stuffed animal program for older children is titled Christmas in July.

Explore Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum on a storytelling tour that reveals the lives and mysteries beneath its peaceful canopy. Hear about inventors and pioneers, along with accounts marked by scandal, sudden tragedy, and unresolved questions. Stories of murder, misfortune, and curious turns of fate echo among the stones, creating an experience where truth feels stranger than fiction. Meet at Eichelberger Plaza at the main gates of the cemetery. Parking is available inside the grounds as well as outside the gates. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water if you like. Tours continue in most weather, but will pause for thunder or lightning. Reservations are required, and a $5 donation is suggested. Proceeds support the Woodland Arboretum Foundation and its restoration, preservation, horticultural, and educational efforts that help keep Woodland a cultural resource for Dayton and Ohio.

Greene County Parks & Trails Wobbly Walkers is an inclusive program open to people of all abilities. It features short, easy walks for those working on recovery, using mobility aids, or preferring a slower pace, with time outdoors in beautiful parks. The focus is community, fresh air, and moving at a comfortable speed, with friendly side by side conversation among new and familiar faces. No registration is needed and walk ins are welcome. All are welcome to take part, whether bringing a walker, cane, or wheelchair, or arriving without any mobility device.

A benefit golf scramble raises funds for Toward Independence and its mission to empower people with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live full lives with dignity, choice, and independence. Proceeds support safe, supportive housing, job training and employment opportunities, community integration programs, and remote support with round-the-clock assistance. The event features 18 holes of championship golf in a team scramble format suited to all skill levels, plus a catered lunch and beverages. Raffles, prizes, and contests such as longest drive and closest to the pin add to the experience, with opportunities to connect with community leaders and local businesses. Participation is available through individual or team registration, hole or event sponsorships, or donating a raffle prize or gift basket. The Alex Nicodemus Jazz Trio appears as part of Jazz & Beyond, a museum series that has highlighted regional jazz for more than 25 years with a mix of established artists and new talent. This picnic highlights Gemuetlichkeit with homemade German dishes, German and domestic beer and wine, and live music across the beer gardens.
