Season 18 of Gem City Pinball League brings weekly competitive play to Canal Street Arcade and Deli. A one-time fee of $20 covers the session, with coin drop paid each week. The league meets on Mondays, with most holidays and off weeks excluded, and members are notified if any other Mondays are adjusted. Each week, players are grouped in threes or fours to tackle four randomly selected machines, earning points by finishing position. Pairings rotate so competitors face two to three different league members from week to week. The season features eight weeks of regular play followed by two finals nights. A cutoff based on overall scores determines placement into A or B finals, and each participant competes in one of those tournaments. Finals formats may be adjusted to fit league needs and the number of players. Attendance matters. There are no make up weeks, but one lowest weekly score is dropped at the end of the eight-week run. Players are asked to check in each Monday to confirm their status. Missing three weeks in a single season results in removal from that season’s rankings and ineligibility for finals, though special circumstances may be considered if league operators are contacted promptly. If removed, players may still come to play for the remainder of the season, but scores will not be recorded. They can return officially at the start of the next season if space is available. A respectful environment is required. Disrespectful behavior is not tolerated and can lead to removal. Rulings by league directors are final, and arguing calls does not change outcomes. Mechanical issues are part of pinball and may require a restart or game shutdown, and decisions around these situations will stand. The goal is fair competition, good sportsmanship, and a fun night of pinball for everyone.
