    See details

Healthy Living Day brings a wellness focus to the Main Street Portsmouth In Bloom Farmers Market at the Roy Rogers Esplanade, spotlighting organizations that support community health and quality of life. Presented as part of the America 250 Celebration, it aligns with Ohio’s theme, “Ohio Plays - Sports & Wellness.” This special market day is sponsored by First State Bank. Founded by the DeAtley family, the market was created to give regional farms and cottage producers a welcoming downtown hub to share fresh goods and handmade wares with the community. Beyond vendor booths, the market regularly offers agriculture education, hands-on art activities, and live music. Local institutions also attend to share information about programs and services, with attention to both youth and seniors. The market follows Ohio Cottage Industry rules. Vendor spaces are reserved for the season, and interested sellers can request placement on a waiting list through the market’s application process. The market is supported by the Scioto County Commissioners.

    Bells Across America

Scioto County Courthouse, 602 7th St, Portsmouth · verified Sep 11
    Free

The Joseph Spencer Chapter, NSDAR hosts a community gathering on the courthouse steps for Bells Across America, a nationwide bell ringing observance that honors Constitution Week. The observance echoes the colonial tradition of bells calling people together to hear the nation’s founding documents read aloud. Churches throughout Scioto County are encouraged to sound their bells continuously for one minute so they ring in unison with communities across the country. After the ringing, the group will speak the Preamble to the United States Constitution together, followed by the reading of proclamations. Attendees are welcome to bring handheld bells to take part in the moment. If the weather turns unfavorable, activities will move inside the courthouse. Churches wishing to participate are asked to register by calling 740-353-7647.
