A weekly gathering at The Nook & Cranny brings fiber arts together with hot drinks and friendly conversation. Bring a work in progress, whether knitting, embroidery, or another fiber craft, and enjoy local coffee and seasonal snacks in a welcoming setting. There is no set agenda, only time to stitch, chat, and share creativity with others.

This beginner friendly sewing class welcomes those with no prior experience and focuses on the basics, including how to operate a sewing machine, use rotary cutters, rulers and templates, and calculate fabric needs to reduce waste while learning common sewing terms. The course leads to a finished quilt as the final project. Please bring a sewing machine and scissors. Enjoy a dinner and comedy night at The Portsmouth Brewing Company with the Midwest Comedy Tour. Settle in with a pre-set menu and favorite drinks while a lineup of comedians takes the stage. The tour’s founders, Austin Robertson, a nationally touring comic known for voiceover work, host of Trippin’ with Austin and Angela, writer for Blaze TV’s Normal World, and 2018 second place finalist in the Funniest Person in Ohio competition, and Becky Thompson, co-founder of the tour, a finalist in the Funniest Person in Ohio competition and featured in the satirical journal The Belladonna, appear alongside special guest comics. Expect fresh material and new faces, since no two shows are exactly alike. Please note that the performance includes adult content and language.

A spirited screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show takes place at Shawnee State University in the Flohr Lecture Hall, inviting an interactive night of singing, dancing, laughter, and audience participation. Costumes are encouraged, whether you channel a favorite character, embrace your quirkiest self, or wear whatever feels fabulous, and quiet behavior is playfully discouraged in favor of full participation. Admission is free. The Wyld and Wonderful Untamed Thang shadowcast from Huntington, WV will be on hand to boost the energy and offer prop bags for purchase at the event, with additional sales earlier in the day at The Landing in Portsmouth. An educational lunch focuses on resources for Ohio energy workers, especially former employees of the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. Presented by CNS Cares, a home care provider serving energy workers, the session explains how eligible individuals may qualify for compensation, health benefits, and in-home care at no out-of-pocket cost. Seating is limited, and attendees are asked to reserve a spot for only one event per month. The gathering takes place at Mr. Gatti’s Pizza in Portsmouth.

This casual drop-in basketball session welcomes women ages 16 and up in Jackson, Ohio.

An evening focused on finding and sharing hope for anyone impacted by addiction. The program opens with a testimony-style talk, followed by separate recovery groups for men and for women. Knowledgeable leaders will be available to support individuals and their loved ones, offer recovery resources, provide family guidance, and help connect people with treatment options. All activities and assistance are offered at no cost.
