Head to Hartford Orchards for the 7th Annual Sunflower Festival and enjoy the sight of more than 100,000 sunflower blooms. Stroll through the sunflower fields, filled with many colorful varieties, and make a full day of it with family-friendly fun and photo-worthy scenery.

Returning for its second year, this toy drive run begins at Eastside Civics and brings people together to help children in the Vall_y experience the joy of Christmas. Future Farmerz Market is a new community gathering focused on shopping, learning, and connection while uplifting the next generation of Youngstown leaders who are growing a stronger, greener neighborhood. The market welcomes shoppers of all ages and features Mystery Seedling Grab Bags filled with hand raised, well hardened off, but intentionally unlabeled seedlings that are ready to plant in garden beds, containers, or backyard plots. Possible pepper varieties include Cubanelle, Cayenne, Habanero Orange, Marconi Red, Anaheim, Jalapeño, Bell Pepper Rainbow Mix, California Wonder, Big Red, and Serrano. Possible tomato varieties include Pink Brandywine, Sweetie Cherry, Flame, Hillbilly, Roma, San Marzano, Pineapple, Black Krim, Yellow Pear, Kellog Beefsteak, Cherokee Purple, Green Zebra, and the specialty Midnight Roma Tomato. Grab and go pricing is set at $4 for one plant, $10 for three, or $25 for ten. Every dollar collected supports Black House Farmz operations and community programs that share skills in self sufficient living, urban farming, and food justice.

PBS Western Reserve presents a free family gathering at Eastwood Mall Complex that encourages children to practice kindness and learn what it means to be a good neighbor. Families can meet helpers from the community and take part in interactive activities for kids. Daniel Tiger will be there to say hello.

RoyalRidesCC presents its 3rd annual car show at Penguin City Night Market, showcasing a variety of builds and styles. Competition spans eight categories: Overall-King of the Streets, Best Paint, Best Truck, Best Bike, Best New School, Best SQ (sound quality), Best Custom, and Best Original. The Overall-King of the Streets winner receives a crown.

Registration is open for the Warren Italian American Festival youth pageant at Courthouse Square in Downtown Warren, Ohio. Children ages 4 to 5 will compete for the Tiny Prince and Tiny Princess titles, while ages 6 to 7 will vie for Tiny King and Tiny Queen. Entrants must have traceable Italian ancestry.

Ignite the Night Youngstown brings the community together along the Mahoning River for an evening of live music and fireworks. The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra performs a concert, followed by a fireworks display that illuminates the downtown skyline. Activities take place at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and Wean Park. The event is free and open to the public, welcoming families, friends, and visitors from across the region. Presented by the Rotary Club of Youngstown with the City of Youngstown, the Economic Action Group, Youngstown CityScape, and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, it aims to establish a new Independence Day tradition for the Mahoning Valley.

Come shop, trade, and browse all things reptiles and exotic pets at the Reptile Show. It’s a buy/sell/trade event featuring essential supplies for reptiles and more. Admission is $6.00, and kids 10 and under are free.

Bring the whole family for “Cruisin’ With the Vikings,” a fun car, truck, and bike show at Bascom Elementary. Registration runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with awards at 3:00 PM. The Cortland Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library presents a fire truck themed story time with participation from Bazetta Fire. Activities are designed for ages 2 to 12, and the event welcomes kids of any age and ability. The relaxed outdoor setting supports a love of books and easy opportunities to meet new friends. Logan’s Landing Project will also share its work to create more inclusive opportunities for children and families. Attendees may want to bring a blanket and a friend.

Caregivers with children from birth to age 4 can take part in a storytime that fosters a love of reading through engaging stories, songs, and crafts. Each week features a new theme to explore. The program takes place in the library’s children’s room.

The Youngstown Summer Movie Series returns in 2026 with free, family friendly outdoor films on the Covelli Centre front lawn in Downtown Youngstown. Guided by hosts Aspasia Lyras, Mario Riccardi, and Hannah Ferguson, this long-running tradition invites the community to relax beneath the night sky and share a season of nostalgia, fun, and connection. The schedule features Minecraft (2025), Men in Black (1997), Superman (2025), Good Burger (1997), How to Train Your Dragon (2025, live action), Free Willy (1993), Frankenweenie (2012), and Lilo & Stitch (2025, live action). If weather interrupts a screening, it moves to the next evening. Concessions are available from the Youngstown Rayen Early College National Honor Society, offering snacks and refreshments throughout the series. Support comes from community partners including The City of Youngstown, Wean Park, JAC Management Group, Appleridge Productions, and Penguin City Brewing Co. Attendees can bring blankets, lawn chairs, and friends for a comfortable night on the lawn.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers hosts a dine-to-donate fundraiser supporting the Lakeview Little Bulldogs football and cheerleading programs. During the event, 15 percent of food sales will be directed to help cover upcoming needs for these young athletes. Purchases count toward the fundraiser when guests mention or show the event at the register, or when ordering online or in the app using code RCFUND96.

Young Friends Adventure at the Butler offers an interactive gallery tour with illustrated books followed by an art activity. Designed for children ages 2 to 5 with a parent or caregiver, the program encourages looking, listening, learning, sharing, and artful fun. Explore archaeology with presentations from Lora Brady and John Chuey of the Mahoning Valley Archaeological Society. The program highlights the society's background and findings from two local sites, including Cedar Creek near Mansfield, Ohio, and Seaman's Fort Defensive Earthwork in Milan, Ohio.
