FOXCONN hosts its fifth annual golf tournament in support of Someplace Safe. All proceeds from the event benefit this organization, continuing a tradition of playing for a purpose.

Head to Hartford Orchards for the 7th Annual Sunflower Festival and enjoy the sight of more than 100,000 sunflower blooms. Stroll through the sunflower fields, filled with many colorful varieties, and make a full day of it with family-friendly fun and photo-worthy scenery.

Returning for its second year, this toy drive run begins at Eastside Civics and brings people together to help children in the Vall_y experience the joy of Christmas. Future Farmerz Market is a new community gathering focused on shopping, learning, and connection while uplifting the next generation of Youngstown leaders who are growing a stronger, greener neighborhood. The market welcomes shoppers of all ages and features Mystery Seedling Grab Bags filled with hand raised, well hardened off, but intentionally unlabeled seedlings that are ready to plant in garden beds, containers, or backyard plots. Possible pepper varieties include Cubanelle, Cayenne, Habanero Orange, Marconi Red, Anaheim, Jalapeño, Bell Pepper Rainbow Mix, California Wonder, Big Red, and Serrano. Every dollar collected supports Black House Farmz operations and community programs that share skills in self sufficient living, urban farming, and food justice.

PBS Western Reserve presents a free family gathering at Eastwood Mall Complex that encourages children to practice kindness and learn what it means to be a good neighbor. RoyalRidesCC presents its 3rd annual car show at Penguin City Night Market, showcasing a variety of builds and styles. Competition spans eight categories: Overall-King of the Streets, Best Paint, Best Truck, Best Bike, Best New School, Best SQ (sound quality), Best Custom, and Best Original. The Overall-King of the Streets winner receives a crown.

Registration is open for the Warren Italian American Festival youth pageant at Courthouse Square in Downtown Warren, Ohio. Children ages 4 to 5 will compete for the Tiny Prince and Tiny Princess titles, while ages 6 to 7 will vie for Tiny King and Tiny Queen. Entrants must have traceable Italian ancestry.

Ignite the Night Youngstown brings the community together along the Mahoning River for an evening of live music and fireworks. The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra performs a concert, followed by a fireworks display that illuminates the downtown skyline. Activities take place at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and Wean Park. The event is free and open to the public, welcoming families, friends, and visitors from across the region. Presented by the Rotary Club of Youngstown with the City of Youngstown, the Economic Action Group, Youngstown CityScape, and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, it aims to establish a new Independence Day tradition for the Mahoning Valley.

Steel Valley Woofstock 9 is a fun-filled evening celebrating Peace, Paws, Love, and Music at W.D. Packard Music Hall. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the event runs through 10:30 PM. He brings country and folk originals rooted in candid storytelling, exploring addiction, struggle, and redemption in songs meant to resonate long after the music ends. Known for forging a genuine connection with audiences, Carpenter offers a raw, memorable set. This event is free.

This two-day drawing workshop with local artist Ed Hallahan offers a contemplative approach to image making that reflects on creation. Participants will work with the shape of the hand, their own or others, exploring chiaroscuro techniques and the symbolism of light and shadow rooted in Yin Yang philosophy within a circular composition. White charcoal on black paper serves as the primary medium, and attendance spans both sessions. The fee is $50 and includes materials. Open to adults 18 and older, with limited capacity. Hosted at LOOP Arts & Culture Center. Ed Hallahan is a musician, visual artist, sculptor, and retired educator whose practice includes music and art performances, graphite drawing, and wood sculpture, with many years of teaching at the Butler Institute of American Art and visiting instruction across regional schools and programs.

The Warren Italian Festival Parade brings the excitement to Perkins Park with a fun procession open to all. Participants are welcome to drive, ride a bike, or walk as part of the celebration. A registration form is available for those who would like to take part.

This Music in the Park concert features Jenah Shank at Bazetta Park in a laid back outdoor setting with live music and a welcoming community feel. The Cortland Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library presents a fire truck themed story time with participation from Bazetta Fire. Activities are designed for ages 2 to 12, and the event welcomes kids of any age and ability. The relaxed outdoor setting supports a love of books and easy opportunities to meet new friends. Logan’s Landing Project will also share its work to create more inclusive opportunities for children and families. Attendees may want to bring a blanket and a friend.

The Youngstown Summer Movie Series returns in 2026 with free, family friendly outdoor films on the Covelli Centre front lawn in Downtown Youngstown. Guided by hosts Aspasia Lyras, Mario Riccardi, and Hannah Ferguson, this long-running tradition invites the community to relax beneath the night sky and share a season of nostalgia, fun, and connection. The schedule features Minecraft (2025), Men in Black (1997), Superman (2025), Good Burger (1997), How to Train Your Dragon (2025, live action), Free Willy (1993), Frankenweenie (2012), and Lilo & Stitch (2025, live action). If weather interrupts a screening, it moves to the next evening. Concessions are available from the Youngstown Rayen Early College National Honor Society, offering snacks and refreshments throughout the series. Support comes from community partners including The City of Youngstown, Wean Park, JAC Management Group, Appleridge Productions, and Penguin City Brewing Co. Attendees can bring blankets, lawn chairs, and friends for a comfortable night on the lawn.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers hosts a dine-to-donate fundraiser supporting the Lakeview Little Bulldogs football and cheerleading programs. During the event, 15 percent of food sales will be directed to help cover upcoming needs for these young athletes. Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market takes place on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. It runs year-round, moving indoors during the colder months and outdoors when the weather warms. The market is hosted by Thrive Mahoning Valley, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to making the Mahoning Valley more welcoming and equitable.

A community pop-up at Phelps Street Community Gateway features games, hands-on arts, and live music, with space for participants to share their own activities. The Downtown Ambassadors will be on site to support community building. The gathering takes place during active DORA, allowing adults to enjoy beverages outdoors within the designated area. Admission is free, and free parking is available at the Commerce Lot across the street.

Meet outside the Public Library Main Branch by the bike rack for a community walk and ride connected to the Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market. On second Thursdays, enjoy an easy, roughly one mile walk through downtown that concludes at the market. Those days also include a beginner friendly, 30 minute group bike ride through downtown where participants practice riding on the road, using bike lanes, and signaling to other road users. On fourth Thursdays, the schedule shifts to a walking group only, with a 30 minute, about one mile route through downtown that finishes back at the market. The first 20 walkers and riders receive a $5 certificate that can be used only at the Downtown Youngstown Night Market.

Explore archaeology with presentations from Lora Brady and John Chuey of the Mahoning Valley Archaeological Society. The program highlights the society's background and findings from two local sites, including Cedar Creek near Mansfield, Ohio, and Seaman's Fort Defensive Earthwork in Milan, Ohio. Dire Straits Legacy presents the music of Dire Straits with an ensemble that includes musicians who recorded and toured with the band, joined by world class players. The performance includes the group’s most recognizable hits alongside new songs from the album 3 Chord Trick, produced by Alan Clark and Phil Palmer, plus a few surprises. With Dire Straits’ catalog that has sold over 120 million albums worldwide, the set draws from six platinum releases and features classics such as Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing, Romeo and Juliet, Walk of Life, Brothers in Arms, Tunnel of Love and more. On stage are Dire Straits veterans Alan Clark, the band’s first keyboardist, Phil Palmer and Danny Cummings, who both recorded On Every Street, and Mel Collins, who appeared on the singles Love Over Gold and Twisting by the Pool. Each has performed live with Dire Straits across multiple global tours. They are joined by bassist Steve Walters, known for work with George Michael, drummer Cristiano Micalizzi, Primiano Di Biase, one of Europe’s most sought-after keyboardists, and frontman Marco Caviglia, widely regarded as a leading authority on Mark Knopfler’s distinctive guitar style.
