A kickoff reception introduces a psychedelic art exhibition, open to the public at no charge. Everyone is welcome. The event is presented by The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County with co-sponsorship from Shuttic Arts.

PBS Western Reserve presents a free family gathering at Eastwood Mall Complex that encourages children to practice kindness and learn what it means to be a good neighbor. Ignite the Night Youngstown brings the community together along the Mahoning River for an evening of live music and fireworks. The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra performs a concert, followed by a fireworks display that illuminates the downtown skyline. Activities take place at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and Wean Park. The event is free and open to the public, welcoming families, friends, and visitors from across the region. Presented by the Rotary Club of Youngstown with the City of Youngstown, the Economic Action Group, Youngstown CityScape, and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, it aims to establish a new Independence Day tradition for the Mahoning Valley.

Enjoy a relaxed brunch performance at Westside Bowl with Calder Carpenter, a singer songwriter from Dayton, Ohio. He brings country and folk originals rooted in candid storytelling, exploring addiction, struggle, and redemption in songs meant to resonate long after the music ends. Known for forging a genuine connection with audiences, Carpenter offers a raw, memorable set. This event is free.

The Warren Italian Festival Parade brings the excitement to Perkins Park with a fun procession open to all. Participants are welcome to drive, ride a bike, or walk as part of the celebration. A registration form is available for those who would like to take part.

A morning of stories and imagination awaits at Bazetta Township Park. The Cortland Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library presents a fire truck themed story time with participation from Bazetta Fire. Activities are designed for ages 2 to 12, and the event welcomes kids of any age and ability. The relaxed outdoor setting supports a love of books and easy opportunities to meet new friends. Logan’s Landing Project will also share its work to create more inclusive opportunities for children and families. Attendees may want to bring a blanket and a friend.

The Youngstown Summer Movie Series returns in 2026 with free, family friendly outdoor films on the Covelli Centre front lawn in Downtown Youngstown. Guided by hosts Aspasia Lyras, Mario Riccardi, and Hannah Ferguson, this long-running tradition invites the community to relax beneath the night sky and share a season of nostalgia, fun, and connection. The schedule features Minecraft (2025), Men in Black (1997), Superman (2025), Good Burger (1997), How to Train Your Dragon (2025, live action), Free Willy (1993), Frankenweenie (2012), and Lilo & Stitch (2025, live action). If weather interrupts a screening, it moves to the next evening. Concessions are available from the Youngstown Rayen Early College National Honor Society, offering snacks and refreshments throughout the series. Support comes from community partners including The City of Youngstown, Wean Park, JAC Management Group, Appleridge Productions, and Penguin City Brewing Co. Attendees can bring blankets, lawn chairs, and friends for a comfortable night on the lawn.

Line dancing returns to the Phelps Street Gateway in downtown Youngstown with free sessions featuring Lynette McElroy. All experience levels are welcome, and instruction is provided at no cost in a friendly setting where participants can pick up new moves and enjoy the downtown atmosphere. Free parking is available nearby. Activities are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.

Enjoy a free-to-play trivia game night at Dave & Buster's in Niles, where teams of up to six test their knowledge across pop culture, sports, history, science, and more. A live host runs an interactive, competitive format that includes both image and music rounds. Players use their phones to submit answers, earn points, and track standings on the leaderboard throughout the game. Young Friends Adventure at the Butler offers an interactive gallery tour with illustrated books followed by an art activity. Designed for children ages 2 to 5 with a parent or caregiver, the program encourages looking, listening, learning, sharing, and artful fun. It takes place on the second Thursday of every month, excluding December. This event is free and open to the public. Downtown Youngstown Farmers Market takes place on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. It runs year-round, moving indoors during the colder months and outdoors when the weather warms. The market is hosted by Thrive Mahoning Valley, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to making the Mahoning Valley more welcoming and equitable.

A community pop-up at Phelps Street Community Gateway features games, hands-on arts, and live music, with space for participants to share their own activities. The Downtown Ambassadors will be on site to support community building. The gathering takes place during active DORA, allowing adults to enjoy beverages outdoors within the designated area. Admission is free, and free parking is available at the Commerce Lot across the street.
