The Celestia Honors: Elvis with Jesse Garron

The Celestia Theater, 151 Main St, Wadsworth · verified Aug 30
    See details

At The Celestia Theater, Jesse Garron presents an all era salute to Elvis Presley that spans rock, the Vegas years, and gospel classics. Performing under the name of Elvis’s twin, he acknowledges there was only one Elvis and focuses on honoring the music and legacy. Early coverage gave him a nickname comparing his performance to the King, a sentiment audiences continue to echo. Raised in a musical family and inspired by Elvis from a young age, he won the popular vote in a high school talent show at 17, then moved into larger venues as club owners took notice. Since his start in 1997, he has performed nationwide to frequent sellouts, attracted national media attention, and accepted an invitation to perform for the U.S. Embassy in Algiers. After a Louisiana show, he drew praise from guitarist James Burton. His dedication to preserving the music led to induction into the International Elvis Tribute Artist Hall of Fame in 2019. Fans who saw Elvis in concert, along with people close to the Presley family, have praised the authenticity of his portrayal.

    See details

10,000 Maniacs bring a storied alternative rock legacy to the stage, shaped by more than four decades of poetic writing, lush melodies, and memorable concerts. Formed in Jamestown, New York in 1981, the group evolved from indie origins to platinum success, selling over 10 million records and helping define the genre. Their breakthrough came with 1987’s In My Tribe, which spent 77 weeks on the charts and featured “Like the Weather” and “What’s the Matter Here?”. The event welcomes women who live or work in Wayne County and their guests, and attendees are encouraged to bring handouts or flyers. The flow includes doors opening, a buffet lunch with time to network, then announcements and the speaker’s presentation with Q&A. If time allows, participants may introduce themselves and share brief commercials. Parking is plentiful in the main lot. After entering through the main doors, conference rooms are located on the left, and the specific room varies from month to month. Reservations are required, with RSVPs due by the stated deadline. Please note any dietary needs when reserving. The cost is $20, payable at the door by cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo, and receipts are available. Please make checks payable to Wayne County Women’s Network or WCWN. A portion of each registration supports the Kathi Bond Memorial Scholarship presented annually at the Wayne County ATHENA Awards. For questions or to check availability after the RSVP deadline, contact Katherine at 614-226-6446.

    Large Surplus Auction

789 Industrial Blvd, Wooster · verified Aug 30
    See details

A large surplus auction brings in multiple semi-loads of new, used, returned, and surplus merchandise from major retailers including Home Depot, Amazon, Lowe’s, Target, and others. The selection spans tools and lawn and garden equipment such as mowers, blowers, trimmers, vacuums, hand tools, power tools, and electric tools, along with household items like small kitchen appliances, toys, sporting goods, and assorted miscellaneous goods. Most lots will be sold individually, with select volume offerings and wholesale pallets available for buyers purchasing in bulk. Inventory arrives by the truckload, so look for unadvertised specials throughout the sale. A preview will be offered ahead of the auction, and early registration will be available during that time. Multiple auction rings will run concurrently, starting with four and potentially expanding to five. A lunch stand will be on site. Payment is accepted by cash or card, including Visa, Mastercard, and Discover for credit or debit. A 5% buyer’s premium applies to all purchases, and checks are not accepted. Many items are new but may be surplus, scratch and dent, or customer returns. Everything sells as-is and where-is with no warranties, and all sales are final. For updates, text SURPLUS to (330) 845-4411. For questions, contact Seth Andrews at (330) 466-5471.
