    Reality Fractured Commander League

The Eldritch Bastion, 1010 Hedstrom Dr, Ashland · verified Oct 9
    See details

Celebrate Reality Fracture with a themed Magic: The Gathering Commander league built around a Parallel Reality twist. Every deck may pair two commanders as long as both represent the same character within the Magic universe, letting players team up different printings or incarnations of a legend. Think along the lines of alternate versions of Kaalia or Gisa, Tinybones variants, or lore-linked identities such as Akroma with Jeska or Urza with the Blind Seer. Universes Beyond commanders are not permitted, though those cards can still appear in the 99, and this includes no exceptions for Lord of the Rings or Dungeons and Dragons. Each chosen card must be able to serve as a commander on its own. Planeswalkers that explicitly allow themselves to be commanders are fine, and partner cards are acceptable when both depict the same character. For this season only, the usual EDHREC popularity cap is waived. A focused ban list applies to specific characters and lines, including Atraxa, the Praetors, the Eldrazi titans, Jodah, and any two color versions of Niv-Mizzet, while five color interpretations of Niv-Mizzet remain allowed. Deck construction follows a $100 budget that does not count the commanders or basic lands, encouraging inventive pairings without sacrificing the rest of the build. Play is aimed at a Bracket 2, casual and social power level. Avoid cards or strategies that dramatically swing the game, skip infinite two-card setups or turbo wins, do not chain extra turns, and leave mass land destruction out of the mix. Games should generally reach at least turn eight. Be considerate when building within this powerful theme, keep the table experience in mind, and remember that it is fine to decline a matchup or switch off your league deck if a pairing is not enjoyable. The season runs across eight consecutive weeks.
