Family events in Broken Arrow, OK

Families can explore science and nature together through hands-on experiences that spark creativity and curiosity. Each month features a new nature theme with activities designed to build discovery skills, problem solving, and a spirit of outdoor exploration. The program follows an open house format, allowing participants to move through the activities at their own pace. Every session offers three interactive STEM activities, time with a naturalist, and, weather permitting, an opportunity to explore outside. Children also complete a project to take home. The cost is $5 for each participating child ages 2 and up, and adults attend for free. Pre-registration is required for every participating child.

Every week features a different children’s book followed by a craft inspired by the story. This activity is designed for children ages 2 to 5. Registration is free and can be completed at the front desk of Nienhuis Park Community Center.

Taking place at Bixby High School in Bixby, OK, Youth HeartCheck provides families with a simple screening aimed at identifying serious heart conditions that routine checkups or sports physicals may not catch. Many cardiac issues show no symptoms, and families often have no warning. Even if a child appears healthy, their heart could still have an undetected issue. My HeartCheck exists to address this need, offering a straightforward way to look for concerns a child may not feel and a parent cannot see, providing peace of mind and an opportunity to protect their future. Financial aid is available through partnerships with the Strive for Life Foundation and the Jordan Robert Mann Foundation.

Celebrate the bees, butterflies, and other pollinators that keep ecosystems healthy at Ray Harral Nature Center. Take part in a Parks4Pollinators bioblitz to help document local species, try hands-on monarch tagging while learning about their migration, and swap plants and seeds on a bring-some-take-some basis. Families can enjoy games and crafts, and everyone is welcome to explore the trails and discover simple ways to support pollinators in the community. Admission is free and open to all ages. Presented by Ray Harral Nature Center with local conservation partners.
