    August First Friday

Living Arts of Tulsa, 307 E Reconciliation Way, Tulsa
    See details

Indulgence is more than a single idea. It can look like decadence, addiction, luxury, intimacy, guilt, celebration, or defiance. It can feel like a prize earned, a soothing escape, or an act of self-care. This exhibition gathers work that probes these edges and overlaps, asking where nourishment gives way to excess and whether giving in frees the body or tightens its hold. More than forty artists contribute pieces across varied mediums, tracing moments of pleasure and abundance alongside gestures of nurture, desire, comfort, and joy. Together, their perspectives invite visitors to reflect on what it means to savor without limits and to consider personal relationships to wanting, having, and restraint. Titled “Indulgence,” the show offers a thoughtful space to explore what it feels like to let go and simply enjoy.

Tulsa Spotlight Theater, 1381 Riverside Dr, Tulsa · verified Jul 31
    See details

Spotlight Children's Theatre brings a heartfelt comedy set in a 1955 Arizona diner, with the nation’s iconic Route 66 as the backdrop and a cast of all ages. Sally, a young waitress who adores celebrities, is thrilled about the wedding of glamorous movie star Lovey Lamour and crooner Johnny Jerome, until a mysterious customer reveals herself to be Lovey. Having slipped away from the ceremony and broken down on Route 66 with the press in pursuit, Lovey hides at the diner while her car is repaired. Sally’s plan is simple, pose as a fellow waitress. As Sally shows the star how to handle the job, their cover is threatened when a nosy photographer exposes Lovey’s identity and alerts Johnny to where she is. Colorful characters swirl around the counter, including a short-fused cook, Sally’s geeky boyfriend, an endlessly hungry patron, a hilariously inept mechanic, and even Elvis Presley before fame. The result is an affectionate salute to classic diner culture, blending warmth and plenty of laughs.

An evening of live music fills The Vault as guitarist Randy Wimer shares an easygoing acoustic approach with a broad mix of songs. On some nights, a local guest musician may step in for Randy, offering a fresh experience while keeping a consistent atmosphere. A chef-led dinner menu and made-to-order cocktails are available, and parking is complimentary. Set inside a restored 1960s bank, this mid-century modern Tulsa restaurant provides a setting suitable for date nights, happy hour, or dinner with friends. Reservations are recommended.
