The Sean Britt Trio makes its debut at the venue with a program that blends Britt’s own compositions with lively jazz standards. Guitarist Sean Britt is joined by bassist Benjamin Young and drummer Willis Edmundson, New York City musicians whose credits include performances with Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Bill Frisell, Gary Burton, and Victor Wooten. Admission is $25. A Massachusetts native, Britt was the first guitarist accepted into the Brubeck Institute fellowship at the University of the Pacific in 2013. As a member of the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet, recognized by DownBeat Magazine as the top undergraduate jazz combo in 2016, he worked with visiting artists such as Christian McBride, Stefon Harris, and Chris and Darius Brubeck. He later earned a BFA in Jazz Studies from The New School and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music in 2019, and he currently teaches jazz guitar at the University of the Pacific. Benjamin Young began on violin before moving to double bass as a teenager. A Berklee College of Music alumnus, he has performed with John Oates, Kevin Mahogany, New York Voices, Kurt Elling, Becca Stevens, and Mario Jose, and stays active in New York with Billy Harper, Jaleel Shaw, Dabin Ryu, and Godwin Louis. Willis Edmundson switched from piano to drums at age nine and attended Berklee, where he received the Armand Zildjian Scholarship in 2017. During his studies he performed with Grammy-winning artists including Bill Frisell, Gary Burton, Victor Wooten, and Kurt Elling. After graduating in 2018 with degrees in Drum Set Performance and Music Business, he settled in New York as a performer and educator, touring with YEStet, Sean Britt’s SB3, pianist Dabin Ryu, and the funk band Jeb Bush Orchestra.

Cousin Curtiss brings a live, high-energy show to the Art House stage with a two-person lineup rooted in blues, Americana, and rock. Cousin Curtiss drives the sound with quick-strummed acoustic guitar, fiery harmonica, and a booming kick drum, while Harrison B adds electric guitar with a tone that nods to David Gilmour and Gary Clark Jr. Together they create a big, soulful roar that feels like folk vitality colliding with hard rock grit, all delivered with relentless momentum. Admission is $20.

A farewell for now performance from Pants with Pockets spotlights a Eugene group powered by femme voices, mixing original songs with Americana and folk staples. The full lineup includes Sarah Holtschlag on guitar, saw, and accordion, Nicole Hummel on guitar, Tanya Bunson on fiddle, Heather Davis on washboard, and Dandy Dixon on washtub bass. They trade off leading duties across the set, and their voices meet in rich, ear-pleasing harmonies. Sarah pens love songs for the downhearted. Heather first took up the washboard in a smoky Washington Street basement in Eugene 18 years ago and has played ever since, with vocals that range from punk rock to opera and now bring both into one band. Tanya’s fiddle has won many hearts, and she is delighted to be with a group that enjoys singing songs she never imagined she could write. Nicole started rhythm guitar during the pandemic when her sweetie patiently taught the only adult in his bubble, and that joyful start grew into songwriting and performing with a playful, bold, uplifting crew. While traveling the Natchez Trace, Dandy was invited by a bicycling hillbilly band to join their tour, then turned a found washtub, a weed whacker string, and a broom pole into a singing bass.

Eptas returns with a program that moves from classic jazz standards to funk and rock, along with original pieces, drawing on influences from Miles Davis to the Allman Brothers. The seven piece lineup features Peter Anastos and Randy Scherer on trumpets, Bob Rawlings on tenor saxophone, Chris Pearson on baritone saxophone, John Mazzei on piano, Tim Kelly on bass, and Theresa McCoy on drums. Tickets are $25. Trumpeter, composer, and arranger Peter Anastos brings a deep catalog of original work to the group. In the Bay Area he founded Peter Anastos & Iter in 2005 to showcase his writing, and he has released three leader albums titled Iternity, Iterations, and Sempiternity. He has also written arrangements for big bands, and now spotlights his latest seven piece ensemble, Eptás. If the performance does not sell out, tickets will be available at the door.

Two longtime friends share the Art House stage for a night of live music in Auditorium 1 as Baroque Betty and Nighttime Hotline reunite. Nighttime Hotline is the latest project from Eric Stalker, a veteran of Portland indie rock band Glitterfox, offering a vibey mix that folds western color, indie sensibilities, and disco sparkle into grooves steeped in mystery and nostalgia. Baroque Betty brings dark orchestral folk from Eugene, Oregon, with Betty Jaeger’s wide ranging voice at the center. Her songwriting leans into the whimsy of old literature while exploring grief, grit, and dreamlike distance from a harsh reality. Expect spare guitar, string laden melodies, and airy synth cameos, with string arrangements by Julia Frantz, Alex Abrams, and Corwin Bolt. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 on the day of show.

Enjoy an evening of ballroom, Latin, swing, and nightclub dancing that begins with beginner and intermediate Viennese Waltz lessons taught by Michael and Gail Zera, then continues with a social dance featuring a Waltz Mixer and music from a DJ. Presented by the Community Center for the Performing Arts, Jerry’s Middle Finger returns to the WOW Hall with a set rooted in the legacy of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. Formed in 2015 by professional musicians devoted to that music, the group first shaped its distinctive sound in LA speakeasies and beachside dive bars, then grew into a favorite on notable stages across California, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington. At the forefront is lead vocalist and guitarist Garrett Deloian, whose blues background colors every phrase. Founder and drummer Rodney Newman, a student of the Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band since his youth, drives the groove alongside the steady, inspired bass of multi-talented Son Vo. The lineup also features vocalists Halina Janusz and Lisa Malsberger, with pianist and organ specialist Jon Gold on keys. With dance-forward shows and heartfelt energy, JMF is poised to bring this music to more audiences across the country, crafting a live experience that keeps the essence of Jerry’s sound vividly present.

Coburg’s Concerts in the Park gathers neighbors and visitors at Pavilion Park for an eight-week tradition that blends live music, food, and community. Bad Reputation brings decades of experience and a genre-spanning set that moves from rock to pop to country rock, offering the variety and energy of three bands in one.

Celebrating the rich stream of music that reaches beyond the traditional American Songbook, Oregon Festival of American Music 2026 highlights works from around the world and from America’s many byways that have become part of popular and jazz repertoires. After an earlier focus on the musical conversation between France and the United States, the summer program widens the scope to trace how influences from other countries and varied traditions have found a lasting place in the Songbook and jazz mainstream. Led by Artistic Director Chuck Redd, the lineup includes eight distinctive concerts, most offered twice, along with the Jazz Party, talks, films, and two community singalongs.

At The Shedd Institute in Eugene, Chuck Redd and his group appear with Siri Vik and Michael Stone to explore the origins of bossa nova from the late 1950s into the early 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, where traditional Brazilian samba blended with cool jazz harmonies popular in the United States. The program focuses on the style’s syncopated rhythms and intimate vocals and acknowledges the contributions of Antônio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto, Vinícius de Moraes and others whose work later influenced jazz and American popular music. It also includes a salute to choro through pieces by Ernesto Nazareth and Pixinguinha, highlighting the brisk, instrumental tradition that blossomed in Rio and intertwined with samba. Look for favorites such as Waters of March and The Girl from Ipanema along with additional selections. Chuck Redd and his festival jazz ensemble explore these ideas in performance, showing how a blues sensibility can color songs not originally written as blues, with a focus on music by Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin. A journey through the classic French chanson unfolds from its Parisian roots to stages around the world, conjuring cafés, smoky cabarets, carousels, and bustling boulevards. These songs, joyous or bittersweet, carry poetry and spirit that travel across borders and into the jazz tradition. The program traces notable waypoints in the French songbook, touching on Josephine Baker’s exuberant “J’ai deux amours” and “Madiana,” the carnival surge of “La Foule,” and Charles Trenet’s “La Mer,” with its view from a train near Marseilles. It honors the cabaret lineage from “My Man” to “Cry from the Heart,” one of Edith Piaf’s last, nods to the 1960s voices of Serge Gainsbourg and Léo Ferré, and highlights Jacques Brel’s portraits of life through “J’arrive,” “La Valse à mille temps,” “Ne Me Quitte Pas,” and “Vesoul.” Each selection is treated as a crossing, moving from Paris streets to new places where listeners make the music their own.
