A farewell for now performance from Pants with Pockets spotlights a Eugene group powered by femme voices, mixing original songs with Americana and folk staples. The full lineup includes Sarah Holtschlag on guitar, saw, and accordion, Nicole Hummel on guitar, Tanya Bunson on fiddle, Heather Davis on washboard, and Dandy Dixon on washtub bass. They trade off leading duties across the set, and their voices meet in rich, ear-pleasing harmonies. Sarah pens love songs for the downhearted. Heather first took up the washboard in a smoky Washington Street basement in Eugene 18 years ago and has played ever since, with vocals that range from punk rock to opera and now bring both into one band. Tanya’s fiddle has won many hearts, and she is delighted to be with a group that enjoys singing songs she never imagined she could write. Nicole started rhythm guitar during the pandemic when her sweetie patiently taught the only adult in his bubble, and that joyful start grew into songwriting and performing with a playful, bold, uplifting crew. While traveling the Natchez Trace, Dandy was invited by a bicycling hillbilly band to join their tour, then turned a found washtub, a weed whacker string, and a broom pole into a singing bass.

Eptas returns with a program that moves from classic jazz standards to funk and rock, along with original pieces, drawing on influences from Miles Davis to the Allman Brothers. The seven piece lineup features Peter Anastos and Randy Scherer on trumpets, Bob Rawlings on tenor saxophone, Chris Pearson on baritone saxophone, John Mazzei on piano, Tim Kelly on bass, and Theresa McCoy on drums. Tickets are $25. Trumpeter, composer, and arranger Peter Anastos brings a deep catalog of original work to the group. In the Bay Area he founded Peter Anastos & Iter in 2005 to showcase his writing, and he has released three leader albums titled Iternity, Iterations, and Sempiternity. He has also written arrangements for big bands, and now spotlights his latest seven piece ensemble, Eptás. If the performance does not sell out, tickets will be available at the door.

Two longtime friends share the Art House stage for a night of live music in Auditorium 1 as Baroque Betty and Nighttime Hotline reunite. Nighttime Hotline is the latest project from Eric Stalker, a veteran of Portland indie rock band Glitterfox, offering a vibey mix that folds western color, indie sensibilities, and disco sparkle into grooves steeped in mystery and nostalgia. Baroque Betty brings dark orchestral folk from Eugene, Oregon, with Betty Jaeger’s wide ranging voice at the center. Her songwriting leans into the whimsy of old literature while exploring grief, grit, and dreamlike distance from a harsh reality. Expect spare guitar, string laden melodies, and airy synth cameos, with string arrangements by Julia Frantz, Alex Abrams, and Corwin Bolt. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 on the day of show.

Presented by the Community Center for the Performing Arts, Jerry’s Middle Finger returns to the WOW Hall with a set rooted in the legacy of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. Formed in 2015 by professional musicians devoted to that music, the group first shaped its distinctive sound in LA speakeasies and beachside dive bars, then grew into a favorite on notable stages across California, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington. At the forefront is lead vocalist and guitarist Garrett Deloian, whose blues background colors every phrase. Founder and drummer Rodney Newman, a student of the Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band since his youth, drives the groove alongside the steady, inspired bass of multi-talented Son Vo. The lineup also features vocalists Halina Janusz and Lisa Malsberger, with pianist and organ specialist Jon Gold on keys.
