Live music from Mojo Holler adds a warm, rootsy soundtrack to the Annual Dahlia Festival’s celebration of a century of blooms, pairing vibrant gardens and sweeping views with tasty bites from rotating food trucks and countless photo-ready moments. The band blends influences that stretch from mountain country to the Mississippi Delta into indie folk rock. Missi’s soulful vocals and percussion on washboard, bongos, and cajon meet Mister Baker’s expressive lap steel, slide guitar, and dobro. Notable Northwest musician Randy Yearout joined in 2023 on bass and acoustic guitars, with occasional mandolin and banjo, rounding out the sound. Their releases include ROOT, an acoustic meditation on remorse and redemption, and their 2014 debut Where Black Ravens Flew, a concept-driven folk rock work. Formed in 2012 as the duo Missi & Mister Baker, the group went on to an official showcase at South By Southwest in 2016 and has continued to collaborate with producer and mixing engineer Larry Crane. Expect a day of color, flavor, and evocative songs set among fields of dahlias.
