Pittsburgh · The Kingsley Association, 6435 Frankstown Ave

A full weekend of contra dancing returns to Pittsburgh at The Kingsley Association, a spacious community center in the East End dedicated to social and economic justice. The move to a larger venue brings more parking, upgraded HVAC, additional restrooms, and generous room for dancing, socializing, and snacks. Live music features Hot Coffee Breakdown, mixing traditional and original tunes with Tom Cunningham on fiery fiddle alongside Latin and rock rhythms from Kate Sanders on keyboard and Luis de Leon on percussion and harmonica. Turnip the Beet, the Nashville duo of Kelsey Wells and Jeremy Lekich, adds fiddle, banjo, guitar, percussion, and the occasional mbira to a lively blend of music from the American South, Ireland, Cape Breton, Quebec, and Scandinavia, plus plenty of homegrown originals. Calling is by Pittsburgh’s Gaye Fifer and Georgia’s Seth Tepfer, with sound by Hanno Meingast. Contra dances take place in the first floor gym. Saturday and Sunday workshops are held upstairs in the bright yoga room overlooking East Liberty. The venue’s swimming pool is available for $10 per hour for a refreshing break between dances, and there are many restaurants and bakeries within walking distance in Garfield, Highland Park, Bakery Square, and East Liberty. Registration includes early bird pricing with Full Weekend $120, Family Pass $240, Student $75, and Financial Need $75. Telehealth

Pittsburgh · Bottlerocket Social Hall, 1228 Arlington Ave

Don’t Let the Scene Go Down on Me! Collective presents an all-ages show featuring Telehealth with support from Crush Curl and Compandas. Telehealth, a Seattle synth punk outfit founded by Alexander Attitude and Kendra Cox with Ian McCutcheon and John O’Connort, blends art rock, new wave, and edgy post punk with rugged synth textures. Their songs take on burnout, tech optimism, branding, and the idea of progress, channeling punchy hooks and a dance-ready pulse into reflections on city life, luxury sustainability, and gig-economy side hustles, all while moving within the same corporate machinery that can turn crisis into content. Their Sub Pop debut, Green World Image, reimagines Seattle’s post grunge lineage for a tech-centered present with anxious momentum and self-aware bite. Fans of Snõõper, Devo, Guerilla Toss, or Sweeping Promises may feel right at home. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 the day of show.
